This is what typically happens when we lose an estimate for $500 or so dollars. Mine is the first picture theirs is the remaining. We both removed low boy units but only one of us did it correctly. ... Choose your HVAC contractor wisely because one will run trouble free for 20 plus years and the other will be nothing but trouble untill it's either fixed or replaced. At this point in time it's becoming difficult to get certain items and it's probably not going to get better soon. Have your heating system checked and serviced right away and avoid any inconveniences that may happen once we get into winter. As it begins to get colder please keep in mind that we are having difficulty getting equipment and materials delivered for scheduled jobs now and it only appears to be getting worse. I would highly recommend you get your heating system serviced right away to avoid any inconveniences when it's cold. It's very possible that if you lose your heat this season it could be days before replacement parts are available. That has already been the case in some AC calls this year. Please advise everyone you know to have your heat looked at and serviced before we get to these cold months to avoid any inconveniences like this.

This was a unit I installed 18 years ago. They never had any trouble, the unit ran without any issues and they were very pleased. ( They paid me to replace it today) If this unit was serviced regularly it would still be in service today. It failed because the outside coils were plugged and the compressor ran overheated constantly. It eventually caused it to fail. Have your HVAC equipment serviced regularly if you want it to last it's expected service duration. It will add years of service to your equipment. 607-426-5094

Not sure who's bright idea this was but they obviously didn't consider how these units would ever get serviced let alone that they piped it all incorrectly and now 2 of these 4 units (5 years old) need to be replaced! I couldn't get to the 2 back units and we will have to come back after hrs to shutdown and remove the water softening equipment just to get access to them to properly diagnose the issues. I also need the model and serial number for warranty process. I was recently asked as a " Professional Consultant" by the Rinai Corporation to come up with a solution for this project. Carbon Monoxide is dangerous and avoidable! Have your furnace inspected and serviced annually! This rental property had CO detectors in place which alerted the tenants and possibly avoiding a potentially serious situation. The levels of CO measured by Elmira Fire Dept, NYSEG and Oakes were between 600 and 800 ppm. ( Legal appliance shut off is 9ppm if that gives you an idea how bad it was). Personally I've only seen 600 ppm once before in over 30years of doing this. 2 appliances were tagged and shut off. We arrived to remedy the situation and determine the furnace to have multiple serious cracks and the boiler was not venting properly. We replaced the furnace and re vented the boiler according to state and local code, put the units back in service and everyone is safe and cozy!

Outdoor wood boiler repairs. New insulated pex lines and power. Moving all controls inside. The original ones were never insulated, not buried deep enough below the frost line and leaked into the house because they were installed improper. Required a mini ex, a skid steer, a demo saw and a jack hammer. But we got it roughed in today in the rain.

2019 employee appreciation day, And Graduation of our first tech school graduates.

A very proud moment for us here at Oakes Heating and Air Conditioning! This week we sent 2 of our employees to begin their journey to becoming fully trained, licensed and certified HVAC Technician's. They attended the R E Michel's corporate training facility in Glen Burnie MD. They are now on their way home from their first two levels of training and both of them completed the courses successful and received their certificate's of completion for level 1 and 2 gas furnace tec...hnician training. We would just like to take a moment and express how proud we are to have these gentlemen working for us and we look forward to helping them continue their education and becoming valuable assets to our companies future growth. One of our latest project. Full install of heat and a/c in an attic crawl space with auxiliary drip pan and a " wet disc" to prevent any possible leaking from damaging the ceiling as a precaution. We use this method on all above ceiling installs to prevent any possible ceiling damage in the event there is a drain blockage. The disc will shut down the unit once its wet and prevent any further problems. Cost $12,500. ( I post these prices because we are very competitive and our work is second to none)

Our latest install as it gets underway. This is at Lamoka Lake. New central heat and a/c being installed into a craw space attic. This one has been a logistical challenge due to its construction, but as always, we overcome. We all decided the "Old Glory" needed an Upgrade as well, so we respectfully removed the Old flag and replaced her with a new one. I hate to up stage a recent post we just had with this conversation, but I believe it's important and I see it far too often and as we speak, I am currently having a debate with a landlord about this very topic. Vent Free Gas Appliances: Can not be used as a " primary source of heat"! Yes, you can still buy them. Yes, you can install them in your home still today (against all common sense) but they are only to be used in an emergency such as a power outage. You can not insta...ll them in an apartment as the only source of heat. It is illegal, un ethical and dangerous. As a professional, I will refuse to service, inspect, audit or even charge a customer when I come across this situation. Further, I will write in the very first line of my report that it should be removed. I will not put my " approval" on it by servicing it for certain liability reasons. It is my right since my "better judgement" will not allow me to for Moral and Ethical reasons. If you call me for a " no heat" and I walk into an apartment, with children in it, and I find a wall mount, vent Free fireplace and it is the only source of heat in this rental I will walk out and refuse to service it. Plain and simple! I can only advise, I can not help that others are willing to take such risks and ignore their " professional" responsibility.

This little gem had everything that could be done wrong in an install done to it. Way over sized, and burner pressure was never adjusted. Inadequate and improper venting. Return air cut into the back of the furnace, and a plenum about half the size that it should be just for supply air. They even " customized" it! This furnace was ruined in just a few short years. Putting a unit in at the Econo Lodge in Big Flats. This previous unit is a total joke. Trash left all over, total damn mess. And to boot, an absolute joke of an install. No consideration about performance at all. The previous person should never be doing this type of work. An absolute hack... So we will be doing this job correctly. Probably hard to tell what is going on, but it's hot, dirty, insulation fills the air and, well, it's hot! But this job is a total joke! We will be fixing that very soon! Stay tuned... More to come.

It's that time of year to get your A/C running! Air-conditioning start up: $89.95 includes clean and service unit, filters changed and up to 1 lb of refrigerant if needed. Air conditioning install: as low as $2,500 now till the end of June.

We returned to Econo Lodge to replace the Hot Water Tanks prematurely. We were planning this in the future,but believe it or not the newest tank burst a huge leak. So we arrived, set up shop and got the job done! This new tank delivers 590 gallons of 165 degree water per hr! Faster, more consistent and way more efficient than the previous system. But, with only 1 tank! Heating hot water for 50 motel rooms and their laundry room! Boom! Now we are watching the gas bills to see how well it really performs. We will be returning in April to put in the 2nd tank. It's not needed, but they still want it for a back up.

Commercial boiler install today. Econo lodge in Consumer Plaza. This boiler was only 5 years old and was leaking terribly! Salt water softener was the culprit. Never feed boilers salt softened water! It wasn't exactly a good choice of equipment for the task it has to perform either. Done right and fully warrantied for the next 10 years for $9,000. Next best price was $12,000. Happy customers!

Lets have a little talk here about "professionalism".. Here are 2 of the replies I heard from customers that tried calling other "heating Companies" today. #1) "It's going to be a minimum of $500 for me to come out today!" ... (You sir are not satisfied with just an arm and a leg, you want to "gouge" their eyes out too!) #2) "If you are not already a customer of our's, we have no obligtion to service you" ( You are a Heating Contractor... and it's Heating Season!) When weather like this come about, Heat or lack of heat is an Emergency! They could be Elderly, or children in the house, and when it's brutal cold like this, "no heat" becomes a serious issue! It won't be long before pipes begin to freeze and we all know where it goes from there! Oakes Heating and Air is a "Professional Service Company"! This is my Profession! And I personaly will never, ever say something like this to you when you call... To me, this is an obligation, as much as I am over worked at the moment, I will continue to provide my services to all. Fast, Reliable, efficient and at a reasonable price!
