The store carries such a variety of goods, you really can do all of your grocery shopping here! Our family eats pretty much exclusively from our shelves. The fact that these products are organic is good for your health, and locally sourced, is good for your community. Every night I take a pic of dinner and send it to my dad, so I figured I may as well show them all off in one spot.

I mention how I love when the morning sun streams in the store, but I never am able to capture just how beautiful it is in photos. Despite a rough night of no sleep, in and out of the tunnels to monitor temps and plants, Tim, like always, gets right to work. He snaps the most glorious shot of four lbs of honey, harvested right here this summer. The plants are tucked in for the night and we’ve got fingers crossed. It’s nights like these that could end an entire season for a winter farmer. We were able to uncover and cut today, coaxing as much heat from the sun as we could. We covered early, hoping to trap enough warmth to last through the night. Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes, and those that contributed to the best birthday dinner ever! Tim makes the best sauce (reason #2 why I married him) and thats the only thing I’d requested today. Our wonderful friend @dae155 surprised me with the most fantastic pasta today and then our lovely Mary showed up with her incredible homemade focaccia. I snagged the Lion’s Mane mushrooms from @518_farms and added our our fresh cut greens! I enjoyed some of the best cider I’ve ever had, a gift from Jen and Dave! Don’t be jealous of these wicked awesome coupons from the boy, which I plan on using up pretty quickly! So happy and thankful tonight. Thank you!

What fun! You may have noticed the bright orange tags all over the store lately, which finally met their destiny today. We had a call from an out-of-state shopper who wanted to surprise her mom with some of the wonderful gifts at OSM. We conducted the whole transaction over the phone and I went to assemble her bag for pick up, when something else struck me. Instead of bagging it up, I wrote out a scavenger hunt of sorts, and the lovely Caroline got to search for her gifts. It was just as much fun for me! #oldsaratogamercantile #supportlocal

There’s a lot of science to winter farming and these last few days were not the most fun. Prior to the storm, for the first time in three years, the super cold temps wouldn’t allow us to uncover to cut. Meanwhile, we sold out of greens in the store as everyone prepped for the snow. We’re back at it today, harvesting as much as we can, as tomorrow’s temps may hinder more cutting. Come stock up while you can!
