Sweet savory bliss this morning.. Have to share because I’m the only one in this household who will eat this sort of thing and it’s THE BOMB and I have tell SOMEONE!! Overnight steel cut oats soaked w. dates, then cooked and topped with wood stove baked sweet potatoes, tofu marinated with two year aged BBQ sauce by @tankeigana and baked until it’s dry and chewy, toasted almonds with tamari, and sesame seeds. Pro Tip: This is a ham and cheese hand pie that I reheated for lunch (that’s right, I’m not just the chef, I’m a customer!) and I left it in the oven a little long...the crust is SO crispy and buttery and flaky now, and all the flavors and textures are perfect for my taste! Today we had a last-minute cancellation when one member of a dinner party came down with a fever. This apple tart was already in the works so I went ahead and finished it (I mean, come on...). But the point of this story is not the tart. The point is, we had a customer who really wanted to have a lovely vacation, in a pretty town, with a delicious meal. And instead, that customer made the responsible choice and stayed home. ... It sucksfor us, for other people in our local economy, and for the customer. But it makes me feel glad and thankful too.
