Oneonta

After an executive order was signed by the governor last Friday, we are expecting some special needs routes to run this summer. Oneonta School District is a go and we are waiting to hear from Otsego County. We will be contacting those people who expressed interest in working this summer very shortly!

Update on Otsego County - there will be no routes operating this summer. As of right now they are planning on a fall return. We will be in the facility at the end of the month and will start planning for training to start in July and August. Dan is still continuing to interview additional people from our initial list, so thank you to everyone who has been contacting ex-team members! ... I hope everyone is able to enjoy the downtime over the next month or two, but at the same time I hope that everyone will be excited to finally get back too. We will continue to update everyone as things progress. Stay tuned and be safe!

I want to thank everyone that has come in to meet us at the hiring event last week and for the continued interviews this week. I know that it's a difficult time right now in many ways and transitions are hard, but we are looking forward to building out the team! We will be keeping in touch with everyone on when training will start up. Whether it's in June, July, or August, we can't wait to get rolling! We talked with the district and they are doing some work on the propert...y this summer, so that will be nice to come back to. Hopefully we will be in the building sooner than later. The district has offered to provide space if needed for any training that needs to be done prior to us getting into the building. Great news! The same day we start the hiring event, we find out that Otsego County has awarded us all of the routes we bid on for preschool, including Cobleskill, Delhi, Norwich, and Oneonta! Can't wait to get the final determination from the governor next week on what will happen with summer school. In the meantime, we hope to see everyone throughout this week!

A few updates for today: We will be closely watching what is announced this week for Otsego County and the Southern Tier. The governor stated in his conference today that the Southern Tier has met the requirements to move into Phase 1. As long as the announcement is made that Phase 1 is a "go", then the hiring event will not be delayed! Dan started back today and is beginning to make phone calls to set up interview times. He will be working on this all week, so please giv...e him time to reach out and please check your phone/VM and emails! Otsego County let me know that they are expecting to announce the preschool award this week. We will keep you updated! We are really excited to get things moving. I know that everyone will be excited with the higher wage package and full benefits package we are bringing in! The wage package will bring in a range of rates you have not had. Drivers with experience can see rates over $20 per hour, and monitors over $16 per hour! We offer medical, dental, vision, 401K with up to a 4% match, life insurance, voluntary life insurance, MetLaw plan, and a company discount website (including for cell phones)! I hope everyone continues to be healthy and safe. Across our company we have been impacted by COVID, so I please ask that if anyone needs help or is sick, please reach out to get the help you need. Don't wait! We are getting excited as the time approaches to get things moving. Some updates for everyone: Dan Ferranti, the General Manager, will be starting next Monday and he is very excited to get everything moving forward! Dan has worked for us in the past, which will def...initely help with setting up the team quickly! He will start calling everyone next week to set up interview times the following week. We still haven't received the final award for Otsego County Preschool, but are hoping it comes out soon! I've been told that the team working on the bid results at the county is only working a day or two a week right now. Now that we have Dan in place we have started to interview for the Safety, Dispatch, and Maintenance positions. We will hopefully finish those interviews up the week we have the hiring event for everyone. It will be nice to start seeing the entire team come together over the next month!. We are working with many districts and programs across the state over the next month to start understanding what our return to work will look like in the near future. This includes social distancing, sanitation, busing expectations, etc. We are being proactive on making sure that we are ahead of the curve when it comes time to go back. In the meantime, please hang in there. We will get moving soon. If there is any change in the dates for the hiring event, we will let everyone know asap. Everything is reliant on the counties/areas of the state being able to starting loosening up the restrictions. I hope this post finds everyone in the Oneonta area doing well during the COVID-19 pandemic. These are very crazy times, but we will get through it! I wanted to let everyone know that we are planning to start our interviews and help those that need it (so that they can get their applications submitted online) on May 19th through May 22nd. We are trying to finalize a location. We will be setting up some areas for us to talk with as many COVID safety precautions that we can ...put in place as possible (plastic screen between us, sanitizer, face masks, gloves, etc). We will also notify everyone on our progress in bidding for the Otsego County preschool. We bid on multiple clusters, including Spring Brook, Pathfinder, Whispering PInes, Delhi, and Norwich.
