This has been a challenging time to take over as President of the Onondaga County Bar Association. We had to pivot, as everybody did, with the new realities of serving our membership during the pandemic but we tightened our belts, learned how to foster dialogue and CLE‘s on the Zoom platform, and developed the start of our year-long series of programs on Race and Justice in CNY. We were able to bring back staff to get out our first Bar Reporter (link below) in a long time. We will stay strong, and we will continue to deliver the services, learning and networking opportunities our legal community needs and more! Jeff Unaitis Carrie Chantler Maggie James

One of the innovative programs that was created by our past president Nick DeMartino is the VALAC (Volunteer Advoate Lawyer for Animal Abuse Court) program. These volunteer attorneys work with organizations like the CNY SPCA and the Humane Society of CNY, law enforcement and the courts to advocate for abused and neglected dogs. Sadly, new cases come in regularly. Find out more at our website! https://www.onbar.org//volunteer-advocate-lawyer-animal-a/ #animalrights
