Leo teaching that log who's boss. You tell him, Leo.
"Talk to the paw, Dad...I have to fatten up for winter, I've no time for play."
A few of you have asked about the sounds a bear makes. We have mentioned before that they will sometimes "purr". Well, that's what I call it anyway. Listen here to the sound Jenny makes when she is interacting with Susan. When bears are young they get great comfort in suckling on their mother's. It is a time of peace and safety and calm for them. Jenny never lost the desire for that, and whenever Susan will let her, she will suckle her fingers and make this purring sound. Make sure your sound is on so you can hear it!
If anyone wanted a calendar ad - or paid for one and has NOT heard from me - please comment below. I’m closing out the calendar today or tomorrow and sending it to the design/printer!
All the fawns that were released can still be seen around the area. Some days Susan sees them all together, and some days she will see them in smaller groups or even by themselves. They are going farther and farther away as time goes by, but all appear to be doing very well on their own.
Happy Halloween everyone!! (Not our squirrels!)
We have a special video today. One of our fans is celebrating his 40th birthday today and his wife made a very generous donation to us, and asked if it was possible to wish him a public happy birthday! She also sent cupcakes to ALL THE BEARS to help celebrate his birthday! So here are the bears enjoying their cupcakes and all wishing KB a very happy 40th today from your wife HB! And the bears LOVED the cupcakes. They think this whole birthday thing is pretty awesome now. :)
Sundays are fun days!

Yep, that's Rosie! She is back outside! So many of you have asked after her and I am happy to say she is fully recovered. If you are new here, Rosie is a Kodiak bear that developed a small cut on her foot that blew up into a very serious infection. She has had to be kept indoors for MONTHS while it healed and just as she recovered, and was let out again, she broke a claw! ARGH! It was so sad for us to have to keep her in again for THAT to heal. Hard on her, hard on us to s...ee her not be able to go out and play, and definitely hard on the finances. Rosie was taking 50 pills a day (try getting THAT into a bear that doesn't LIKE them), and the cost for the medication alone was in the thousands of dollars. We are ALL relieved to have her better, no more pills, and able to once again play outside and be back with her buddies Kimmy and Randy who have missed her a great deal. Thanks for all the support and affection for our bears ya'll. This was a tough one. If you can help us out at all with the cost, we would GREATLY appreciate it. Go Rosie! So glad to have you back!
