In September 2020, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office created a specialized unit to engage in proactive law enforcement activities. Members were selected for the Anti-Crime Team (ACT) based on their above average activity levels on patrol, intrinsic motivation, and aptitude for proactive investigations. The Anti-Crime Team is lead by Sgt. Pritchard, a 13-year veteran of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Fera, an 8-year law enforcement officer has been assigned to A...CT since its’ inception. Deputies Wells, Darling, and Prior have also been assigned to the Anti-Crime Team. Sgt. Taylor has also contributed significantly to the work performed by ACT. The Anti-Crime Team has engaged in focused law enforcement response in high-crime areas, drug investigations, commercial vehicle safety checkpoints, warrant investigations, problem area traffic enforcement, and smuggling interdiction. The Anti-Crime Team has been assisted by Federal law enforcement partners including U.S. Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security, DEA, FBI, IRS, United States Postal Inspectors, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and has worked with local law enforcement partners including the Oswego City Police Department and the Oswego County Drug Task Force while making dozens of arrests related to the smuggling of cash, narcotics, and other contraband. Since September 2020, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime Team have seized more than 927 pounds of marijuana, $138,000 in cash, 148,000 untaxed cigarettes and substantial amounts of other narcotics and illegal substances including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, meth, and molly. America’s veterans have fought to defend our country, its values, and its interests since the first days of our founding. They have defeated tyrants, eliminated terrorists, and secured freedom at home and abroad. Their courage and fortitude in the face of adversity serve as an example for all Americans. On Veterans Day, we pause to pay tribute to all who have proudly worn our Nation’s uniform. These Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen selflessly placed lives, wellbeing, and security of others before their own. We enjoy the privileges of peace, prosperity, and freedom because of our veterans, and we are forever indebted to them beyond measure.
