Because of these strange times, it has been decided not to ask for sponsor donations, although there are still expenses incurred to maintain the building. To register for this event, go to our website http://www.oleanworkshop.org/tickets.html and order your ticket. A direct link to this virtual performance will be emailed on the day of the event.

Are you interested in performing in a completely virtual production of "Belles" with virtual auditions, virtual rehearsals, and (4) virtual performances on October 22nd-25th? Auditions set for Wednesday and Thursday September 9-10 6pm-7pm. An all female cast of 6 southern sisters who despite physical distance, are trying to maintain a connection via thirty-nine phone calls. Anyone interested in auditioning for Belles: email the director Steve Ahl at [email protected], and please indicate which day you would like to audition. A monologue will be sent to you on Monday, September 7th. A zoom link for the auditions will be sent on Sept 9 & 10 at 5:30 pm.

We have recently learned that our dear friend, Marianne McCarthy, passed away Friday, August 7th. She will always be remembered as the Workshop's best friend, who gave her heart, time, and creative being for every one of us, and she will be remembered by all. She attended every children's performance from her seat in the front row, and many of the rehearsals as well. We even managed to get her on stage a few times. She truly loved this place, and we loved her. She was family to us, and she thought of the workshop children as her children. We will be establishing a scholarship in her memory, because there was nothing she loved more here than watching her kids succeed. Rest In Peace, Marianne.

"Catch your child in the Act" Kelly, our videographer is trying to put together a video about the kids from Theatre Workshop who are missing out on their regular theater experiences during this hiatus. We would like to post something on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel so other kids and their families can see how their classmates have been able to keep theater going in their own lives, even when we can’t be together. Kelly had this to say: I had the idea when my da...ughter came in the room saying can we play This is not a Stage? She loves her classes with Miss McKenzie and is really missing the STAR Program this summer. She organizes her siblings into theater games in our living room, or our kitchen, or our backyard. They play improv games and they do little dances. Sometimes they put on a whole show. In the car we make up stories. I thought, We can’t be the only family that does these things. I would love to know what other families are doing through this time. Then I thought maybe all those other families might also like to know. I think this is something a lot of people will be interested in. I’m hoping anyway. If you’re interested in being a part of this, we’re just asking for a short video clip of the kids doing whatever it is they do. Photos would also be acceptable. Then add a little write up explaining what they are doing. You are also encouraged to add anything you think might interest other families. As we are sorting through some old photos during this hiatus, we recognize many of the shows they are from, but are trying to pin down what year they were performed. I see a lot of familiar faces in some of them. Who can tell us what year these were from?
