The newest member of the Pack Ethic Rescue household is this handsome adult male lab mix - Reggie. This beautiful soul found his way through rescue to find a wonderful forever home. Reggie enjoyed safety and love for years but unfortunately, due to a terminal illness taking his owner away too soon, he lost it all. Poor Reggie was in danger of ending up at a shelter and with aggression issues and his special needs, his end would be inevitable. Lucky for Reggie, he found his wa...y to our doorstep- and thanks be for that! This little man has the sweetest spirit. After some insecurity upon arrival, but quickly released when Eric confidently welcomed him into the fold, Reggie has taken this new beginning in stride! It hasn’t taken Reggie long to realize that good things reside here and despite the recent tragic loss of his family- tomorrow will still come and with love. He doesn’t let his handicap keep him from letting loose and running through the snow like the best of them. Otherwise, it is atop a pile of blankets and his bed that he reigns over like a King. We are so glad to give this guy the forever he deserves! We got you now Reggie boy! See more

Our big Bubba is a special boy. A year and a half ago, Bubba came to us in a scared state after making a mistake in his forever home of two years. After one quick error, his world was turned inside out and he was homeless and displaced, but luckily he found his way here and we were able to detox him from the stressful shift in his life. Bubba WANTS to be brave but he came to maturity without the right information and social experiences and now his fear causes him to make anti...social decisions with all new people. Luckily, he found sanctuary here and now his good days are everyday with the right people and environment to support his good decisions and avoid the stressors that cause him to fail. Mistakes happen and rescue has to be there to save lives like Bubba’s. So that today - as always - let free to run and play in his secure yard with the love and attention of a human that he does trust, Bubba can just be any dog having a good day. We love you Bubba boy! When it’s this cold - even to just go out for a potty break - when the dog has short hair - if they will allow it - it’s all about Coats to keep warm! They may not love wearing clothes for a few minutes - but the ones who are willing to wear them - I think they know it’s better than freezing...and they look cute too!

Robin & Boomer - a perfect match Two dogs meet - Robin rescued over three years ago from the devastation from Hurricane Harvey and Boomer - who lost his home only a couple of months ago for aggression issues. No matter their pasts - today they are just two dogs with energies that fall right in sync with each other that allow these two dogs to socialize perfectly. That’s Pack! Dogs know their friends immediately as their primal energies do all of the natural- head to tail investigation to see if there is disharmony or - like these two - a perfect match. For Boomer and Robin - they found an easy friendship right away that makes life a little better. Good Dogs!

Cairo the Pitbull and Honey the Chow mix were both rescued from the same shelter at different times and became friends here over the past four years. Sometimes the dogs we rescue never find a new beginning beyond ours. Cairo and Honey have had their challenging quirks and moments but they have both acted like they are home from day one. Both can be socially challenging with other dogs (except for each other of course - like an unspoken agreement to rule together) but have al...so used their skills to bring other rescue dogs into their pack fold. Cairo and Honey have offered many a life lesson to a shelter dog that has then found a home with another social dog. Their assistance in social rehabilitation has made them mentors and ambassadors. Cairo and Honey truly chose us and everything we are about with all of their being and have let us know everyday that this is where they want to stay. As the years pass, they both slow down a little more and relax into retirement, but still enjoy working with a new shelter recruit when the need arises. We love Cairo and Honey with all of our hearts, are so grateful for their loyalty and will be here for them both forever. When they were rescued, they found their home here together. See more

A couple of months ago, we offered safety to a two year old chocolate lab that was in danger of losing her life - having caused enough mayhem in her home - being protective of her family and aggressive towards other people and animals - to cause her to be at the risk of ending up at a shelter or even euthanized. Even though the stress of her home situation and then the traumatic loss of her family initially left her in a very guarded and tense state, we knew that there was an... affectionate and fun loving Labrador beneath that taut surface. Luckily with some TLC and patience and in a new space where she didn’t have to worry about making more stressful mistakes, Luna is thriving. This goofy girl is such a sweetheart and we are so happy that she has decided we are a-ok in her book! We get to see Luna let it all hang out - everyday and now with the right guidance away from any misguided instincts. We look forward to offering Luna more opportunities to show us her best self and no matter what her skills or lack thereof - she knows and we know that she is safe and sound. We got you Luna! https://www.packethic.net/donate

One of our Pack Ethic Rescue dogs has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Our elderly dog - Hank passed away. Hank lost his home as an adult dog over five years ago and found his way here for safety and retirement. He lived here with Pack for almost half of his life as one of our lifetime sanctuary dogs who couldn’t make it in a normal home situation. In his prime, Hank was a force to be reckoned with. He had some issues with dog aggression that made him a tough candidate for a h...ome. Here, with the pack, while we were able to bring out his more social impulses, he was one of those domineering characters that always ended up mounting his playmates. When this was a jovial female this would turn into a game of chase and wresting as she fought off his pushy advances. With a less tolerant male dog, this posturing would inevitably lead to an unfriendly exchange and a need for a stern, ‘hey, cut it out Hank! Don’t hump!’ As the years went by, he may have slowed down, but he always maintained his tough guy demeanor. He must have had some Bulldog in there somewhere - or even some Dalmatian that gave him his edge. No matter though, as our life together was without conflict, without strife or stress and full of everything Hank enjoyed. He always just wanted the good things in life to be guaranteed everyday and we are so glad we could be that for him. Hank loved to lie out in the grass in the sunshine with a big stick or a big ball and lounge around and chew. He loved to run and play with his friends in the yard, but almost preferred this alone time focused on his chew item and the peace of nature. Inside, Hank was never without a nylabone or a marrow bone and curled up on a dog bed- chewing away. As an elderly gentleman, he became friends with Bullseye - another of our ‘grumpy old men’ who we have had for almost his whole life. Both of these old dogs lately enjoyed many a relaxed constitutional in the yard together - lazily strolling and sniffing as I endlessly scooped the yard. Neither Hank or Bullseye had much left in the way of gusto - save Hank’s sprint to a new spot in the yard or Bullseye’s scamper to follow a ball if I happen to kick one as I walked by. Everyday, spending these quiet times in the yard with these two elderly dogs, brought together mainly for lack of bladder control and a need to go outside more often, I always knew that this pairing was fleeting. Saying goodbye to Hank was not necessarily a surprise, as we watch as our older dogs’ bodies betray them in the end, as they slowly diminish in stature and faculties, but still every presence is missed when it is gone. The house feels a somber hurt from the loss. Hank leaves behind our heavy hearts, but also the bittersweet pleasure at having been able to give Hank a full life - full of what he loved - until his final days. We will miss you old man and we U Hank - R.I.P See more

Neville is the sweetest boy, so smart and is built and fit for any and every challenge you could ever throw at him. Neville just wants to please his people, but is also scared to disappoint due to mishandling. Neville is the perfect example of a dog that has seen enough disappointment and distrust to remain wary of humans. His fear reaction could easily lead to mistakes in the wrong situation. Neville may have his scars, but in his heart, and in our home, he is the most willi...ng and social, sweet and happy fun loving boy. Damaging such a capable force is infuriating and sad, but it happens so often with this maligned breed. Luckily, from the moment we met Neville almost nine months ago and everyday since, we see him as only his positive potential and so, with each new positively reinforced day we spend together, he enjoys another day of freedom from judgment and mishandling. Here he can just be a happy dog in a home with his loving parents, no history, no baggage, no pressure, without fear and without the threat of destruction. We got your back Neville! https://www.packethic.net/donate

Handsome Indy has settled in well in the nine months we’ve known him since he lost his home to some unpredictable behaviors inappropriate for children. We have all learned a lot about each other. Indy is a unique and special spirit - much like his striking appearance. He does require a lot of attention to his motivations and needs, but in a safe space where he can let it all hang out and have a social scene of canine friends, he loves being one of the gang - following every n...ew excitement. This kind of intelligence and intensity can be too much for a normal family lifestyle with young children and a busy household with visitors. Eventually, Indy needed somewhere safe for him to be free to be the dog he is. Indy’s daily routine now includes exploring the sights, sounds and best of all - the smells of the countryside and being entertained by a houseful of balanced dogs all looking to share in fun and adventures. The right challenges for the right dogs make for a cooperative environment of rehabilitation. Moments of success compiled day after day without the failures that made a once happy household pet into a liability and now Indy can just be a dog and enjoy his new pack life. We you Indy! See more
