The Painted Post Fire Department had the honor of flying our nations flag today with The Bath Volunteer Fire Department to honor Hornby Volunteer Fire Company's past Fire Chief and Life Member, Ronald Bills. Rest in Peace Chief, we’ve got it from here.

At approximately 7:30 this morning Thurston Fire was dispatched to a chimney fire along with Savona Campbell fire for automatic mutual aid. Upon arrival of Chie...f 37 fire was seen coming out of the chimney. Fire was then upgraded to a structure fire. We want to thank Savona Fire, Campbell Fire, Addison Fire, Painted Post Fire, Bath Fire, Car 93, AMR, and Steuben County Sheriffs for your response to the scene. PRESS RELEASE: At 10:44 am on Thursday November 12th, The Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a fire in a bedroom at 115 Pine Street in the Villag...e of Bath. Bath Assistant Chief Sean Walruth was the first to arrive on scene and reported smoke showing from a two-story residential structure and immediately asked for mutual aid for and engine from the Bath VA. Within minutes flames were showing from the back of the building and another call was made for a full second alarm. Savona to standby at the Bath station to cover calls for Bath and Kanona, Hammondsport, Pulteney to the scene and Painted Post to the scene with a RIT Team (Rapid Intervention Team) as a safety team for the interior attack team. Bath Volunteer Ambulance and the Steuben County Fire Investigation Team were also called to the scene. Bath Electric, Gas, Water & Sewer Systems was called to disconnect the utilities to the building also. The fire was called under control an hour later at 11:44 am. Teams stayed on scene to continue extinguishment of any smoldering fires and all units were called back in service at 2:06 pm. The structure had two apartments and all occupants were out of the building. The Red Cross was called for the 4 adults who lived in the two apartments. There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined by the investigation team.
