Thoughts on sanctification and salvation: When people go to the altar after hearing a wonderful hell fire and brimstone message they start a relationship with Jesus, BUT they don't know everything about Jesus. They only just started a relationship as a fire escape from hell. Romans 7:18 says " I want to do good, but I don't know how to do that which is goo because of the desires with me." As Believers we need to move form that mind set into a I Thessalonians 5:23 mindset" to ...be set apart Wholly." Picture a tree - when a logger cuts a tree the top portion comes down which represents your personal sin forgiven (Sins we commit). The problem is that the stump and roots remain, which represents Romans 7:18. After a while if the stump and roots are not removed than little shoots begin to grow again as to recreate the tree (roots are original sin- Adam and Eve). The ROOTS need to be pulled up. Entire sanctification is the moment you decide to pull the roots up. The roots represent original sin the BENT toward EVIL nature. A person who has been entirely sanctified does NOT have the desire to be bent toward evil things. It is much like going to the altar with a set of keys. When you go to the altar to ask God forgiveness you only want to escape hell and give God all the keys to your life except one. You hold one back just in case things don't work out with that relationship. When someone experiences entire sanctification they give that last key to their life to Christ. They are saying I am no longer bent toward evil desires but living Wholly for God. The entirely sanctified person allows the Holy Spirit of God to CONVINCE them of RIGHTEOUSNESS (right-living)which is the I Thessalonians 5: 22-23 life style for living a sanctified life. Men's brunch tomorrow at 10am. Annual Church meeting Sunday during morning worship (10:45). Hear about all the wonderful things happening at church over this last year. The kitchen project is coming along nicely. Also, this Sunday we are starting the "Way of the Master" series created by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. This is part of Pastors discipleship program that is being taught during Sunday School hour. Don't forget we have children's Sunday School and church as well. Social distancing and cleaning observed.
