Trump’s doctor Sean Conley never graduated from medical school. He’s an DO not a MD. DO schools were created about 100 years ago bc not enough MDs wanted to work in poor rural areas (like parts of the Midwest). So a new type of doctor was created to study basic medicine, as well as things similar to chiropractic treatments, to offer basic medical care to rural folks. This is why DOs were originally only allowed to be general practitioners or family practice doctors; the US ...government even offered free DO tuition to produce primary care doctors willing to work in rural areas. Of course, over time DOs wanted to be able to specialize & make more $ & not just work in farming communities, so they created their own residency programs. I’m confident saying that the top DOs make fine primary care doctors. I’m also sure that only 50% of people entering DO schools do so because they prefer a curriculum that covers the entire person & have a calling to help underserved rural people in primary care. The other 50% couldn’t get into a single medical school & so chose DO school as a back door to becoming a doctor (just like most kids going to a Caribbean medical school didn’t have the grades or MCAT scores to get into a US med school). This means that Conley had less training in immunology, virology and epidemiology than any MD, because the 1000 hours that DO schools spend on chiropractic-type lessons have to reduce the hours spent teaching hard science as there are only so many hours in the day, right?
