If you have driven past historic Parkhurst Field recently, you may have noticed a new road sign at the historic ballpark as part of the Foundation’s phase one construction. It was through the hard work and handiwork of Kyle Wood, a Life Scout from Boy Scout Troop 5051. This project was quite an undertaking which almost didn’t happen. As Kyle describes, I met David Karpinski (Executive Director of Parkhurst Field Foundation) a few years ago by accident when another Boy Scou...Continue reading

115 years ago today, Moonlight Doc Graham played in his very first minor league game after his iconic 1 game (2 inning) stint in the Major Leagues. After being... released by the NY Giants, he joined the Scranton Minors of the NYS League and caught up with them in Johnstown NY and played in a double header at the Johnstown Fairgrounds (Dixie Grill area) against the A., J. & G's. Attached is the story that tells of that day and straightens out some of the facts between Grahams real life and those portrayed by the "Field of Dreams" movie. He would return to Fulton County several more times over the next two seasons at Parkhurst Field, which is the only remaining field in existence that he played on. HAPPY MOONLIGHT DOC GRAHAM DAY to everyone. If you haven't read this book, it is a good look at the life of the ballplayer who was immortalized in the movie Field of Dreams and played on Parkhurst Field in 1906 and 1907. It mentions Gloversville and the JAGs quite often in the book, too! Someday soon, we will get our good friend Brett up here for a book signing and maybe even a speech so we can learn more about Moonlight!
