Yesterday marks the official launch of FFORA, founded by BFA alumna Lucy Jones (c/o 2015). FFORA’s first collection, The Essentials Suite, is comprised of accessories designed for wheelchair users. Lucy says the mission of FFORA, which is a continuation of her thesis project, is designing with disability first, and not as an afterthought. FFORA’s products cater to a community normally underrepresented in fashion design, urging us to rethink how we approach resolving design issues.

We are proud to participate in Fondazione Ferragamo’s Young Talents for Sustainable Thinking project, which features work of fashion students from design schools around the globe. BFA students Matthew Cook, Ziqi Xing, and Rory Arthur created these pieces made from scrap materials donated by Ferragamo. Their work is currently on view in the Sustainable Thinking exhibit at Museo Salvatore Ferragamo through March 2020. Through their designs, participants reflect on sustainability in fashion and offer suggestions for a changing paradigm in the industry. @mrcfoto
