Today the Partnership released A Call for Action and Collaboration, chronicling the impact of COVID-19 on the NY metro region and actions needed to restore health security and accelerate economic recovery. NY anticipates a 7% drop in GDP in 2020 and 14% through 2023, far more extensive damage to the economy than after 9/11 or the financial crisis. Governments will need to spend less and leverage private sector expertise and resources. NYC has a 20% unemployment rate and 200,0...00 job vacancies. To close the skill gap and get New Yorkers back to work, we propose a job council to focus on skill-building and employment. https://pfnyc.org/rese/a-call-for-action-and-collaboration/
