I have volunteered on many not for profit boards, PTA meetings, project graduation groups, Rotary club, and business advisory committees over the years because I wanted to. I do these things because they enhance our lives and mine as well by serving our communities. I look forward to serving as your representative in Albany.

Peter Wallin Honored by American Red Cross The American Red Cross of Western New York honored Finger Lakes region real heroes with a series ...of virtual ceremonies from May 11 to May 18, 2020. Presented by Simmons-Rockwell, the Finger Lakes Real Heroes Breakfast was originally scheduled as in-person event in March, but was made virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual event created the opportunity to recognize heroes in ten categories by sharing their stories across social media. Each hero was congratulated using #rhbflx2020. Notably, Peter Wallin was honored with the Community Service Award, sponsored by Siemens USA and Dunkin’. Peter Wallin and the staff at Wallin Insurance Agency, Inc. are long-time community partners of the Red Cross, most notably the Home Fire Campaign and Sound the Alarm smoke alarm installation events, which put free alarms in homes and educate families about fire prevention. Among those assisted by Wallin’s work is a resident of Montour Falls, who escaped her burning home thanks to a smoke alarm that had been installed by the Wallin team. The pandemic order with the quarantine was to be 45 days! We are way past that and in upstate we have proven we can handle any requirements to ensure our public safety. The catastrophic issue is happening to our businesses, families, churches, not for profits, and others. They have gone without support or income for weeks! ... We need to reopen with the same guidelines as other businesses that have stayed open were allowed to. #upstatefirst

Six Memorial Day services will be held at local cemeteries. As we begin this Memorial Day weekend I think back on some of those that I served with who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. These are strange times we are in but these men and women deserve this moment of reflection and gratitude. This is about how they stood up, fought hard, and laid down their lives for all of us.
