Bill Creevy, 1942 - 2020 A Special note from PSA President, Jimmy Wright: Bill introduced himself to me at the opening of my 1996 exhibition of pastels and oil paintings at DC Moore Gallery at 5th Avenue and 59th Street. We became fast friends with that first handshake. A few years later, over a drink in the members' bar of the Salmagundi Club, Bill generously tipped me off to the location of the last stash of French matiere paper available in the city. He had arrived in New ...York in the late 1960s, moving into a 6th floor loft at 6 Green Street in the creative center of the art world, Soho. Below is a photo of Bill receiving his first PSA award from Flora Giffuni in the Grand Gallery of the National Arts Club, in 1975. It was PSA's third exhibition, and Bill was setting a high bar for the art of contemporary pastel. The gentleman from New Orleans was the ultimate erudite New Yorker, always there on opening night, stepping into the spotlight.
