Pathways of Love and Light 07.07.2021

Once again, gentle readers... Back up computers, don't make big travel plans (with Covid, who's going anywhere anyway, but still...), and hold off on investments for now. Mercury is going retrograde again on 10/13, so electronics get screwy, plans go awry, everyday order goes amok...you get the idea. Use this time for introspection, for identifying glitches that will need to be put right AFTER the retrograde passes on 11/4. Meanwhile, we have some bumpy encounters with Uranus, the planet of upsets, change, and chaos, and Pluto, who ends and begins things like a phoenix. Trust Mars to keep things hot and give us all headaches right now. THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Bear that in mind, please; have patience, be kind to yourself and others. This is a particularly difficult retrograde. "Do unto others, etc." That's especially important right now.

It's Autumn Equinox, "Mabon" if you're celebrating Celtic fashion, and the beginning of the Zodiacal Sign of Libra no matter where in the world you are. This is the second of the three harvest festivals beginning with Lammas on August 1st, and ending with Samhain (say SAH-wen - only in America is it pronounced, incorrectly, "sam-hain") on October 31st. "Harvest Home" as this holiday is also called, emphasizes gatherings, fairs, celebrations, social occasions to celebrate b...ounty and cooperation in bringing in the harvest. How like Librans! They love social events, and are their best when in relationships to others. They are the world's best friends. Libras, who are ruled by Venus, love harmony and beauty, and despise conflict, anything vulgar and dirty. They are "sugar cookie" pretty or handsome, often sporting cheek dimples, and charming smiles, impeccable manners and wonderful voices which soothe and persuade. Libras will always have flowers and artwork in home and office, and prefer music which is sweet to the ear - not many rappers are born under this sign, nor heavy metal artists. And their visual art will not be Dali's melting clocks, but rather Monet's gardens. Libras are excellent diplomats. They have a special knack for handling crochety, sour people. Calming and soothing the beast is a Libran specialty. Working in a team is another. Libras work best in a group effort or partnership of some kind. One thing Libras do not do well is make final decisions. Although their astrological symbol is the Scales in Balance, it takes Libras forever to get there! They will weigh one side and then the other, back and forth, back and forth, ad infinitum..... This flip-flopping makes the other signs absolutely nuts, but is because Librans are passionate about Justice with a capital J, and being totally fair in all things. Working in a law partnership is a dream job for them. It must have been a Libran who thought up the classic way to let kids choose from the final bit of cake: one child gets to cut the last slice in half, the other kid gets first pick. Libras want everyone treated properly and equally. Their metal is copper, pliable and easy to shape as necessary; their stone is the opal, with ancient water molecules trapped inside to yield that gorgeous chatoyance for which opals are famous. Yet for all their apparent dithering and re-considering, Libra is a Cardinal sign (Cardinal signs are found at the beginning of each season) which means they know how to get things started. It just may take a bit longer for them. But when they get a project off the ground, it will be with the peaceful consent of their co-workers, having taken everyone's suggestions into equal consideration. That kind of work ethic and diplomacy are worth waiting for. Happy Birthday, Libras! See more

Happy VIRGO Birthday time! We Virgos are an unusual lot - we're considered to be modest, loyal, nitpicking with details, critical, ethical, intellectual, emotionally cool....in short we are often (and incorrectly) seen as the 'bean counters' of the Zodiac. We make great accountants, librarians, nurses, physicians, veterinarians, mathematicians, researchers.... Science, precision, truth and logic are our strong points. Sometimes it occurs to someone that we are also always sof...Continue reading

And...late again. My apologies to all those Leos out there who re celebrating their birthdays now. Between the state of the world and the yearly celebration of Lammas (properly socially distanced, mind you!) I'm losing track of time!! Leos have natural star quality. They love a party and sparkle in groups. This year, the lack of ability to gather with friends and family has been especially hard on this most outgoing and social of the Zodiac signs. Their charismatic personali...ties make them stand out as gregarious and personable and others love to be around them. Hey look - a Leo just arrived - let the fun begin! People are drawn to Leos for their courage, their sense of humor, loyalty to family and their affectionate fellowship that extends to everyone they meet. It's pretty hard to piss off a Leo, as they seem to maintain a good mood easily, but mistake them not - when annoyed, hear the Lion (or Lioness) roar! Leos are natural entertainers and leaders. They love the spotlight, and it becomes them. They love children, are super-protective of family and friends in their closest circle, and are outspoken about their opinions. Yet Leo can be a real pussycat. They love to be cozily ensconced in the bosom of those they are closest to, where they do not have to maintain bravado or lead, but can simply relax. Topaz is Leo's stone and red carnelian as well. Oranges and bright yellows suit Leo and stimulate the Solar Plexus "I can" chakra, the source of Leo's infinite self-confidence and courage. Marigolds are Leo flowers and so are dandelions. The "Sun in splendor" is a Leo talisman. We can count on Leos to lead bravely and carefully, protecting his or her followers. Don't be afraid of the occasional roar - deep down, there's always a purr. See more

Aaaand the Mercury retrograde is over. Rejoice and be merry - or as merry as this current time permits. Retrogrades have "shadows" which last a week or two on either side of the event. As we go into the retrograde or come out of it, some of the effects can be felt beforehand or as a lingering influence afterwards. While this is inconvenient at best, and thoroughly annoying at worst, it really is over, and matters are resolving in order to move us out of the past 6 weeks of "...stuck-ness." The issue now is a complete opposition - a conflict pattern existing between the Sun and Pluto/Saturn. This forces change and transition - will we or nil we - and isn't the easiest road to travel. I'm put in mind of a line from the movie Star Trek IV when Scotty has beamed up the whales and their biologist keeper and they are returning to their own time dimension. As the unfamiliar Klingon ship picks up extreme warp speed, he comments "Hang on lassie, it gets bumpy from here!" The next few months we have some difficult angles to endure. What to do? Verify all information before acting, be kind to yourself and other beings, slow down even as life begins to speed up again - oppositions mean just that: there will be road blocks in the way for us all, so don't speed, but take things as they come. Ironically, this all shifts in Late November/December, as we come out of the shadow of the opposition. Little by little, everything improves. which puts me in mind of another line by an anonymous author: "Patience is a virtue until you have to have it." Hang in there! See more
