People coming to the Empire State must take a coronavirus test before starting travel and again four days after entering the state, according to a new policy outlined by Gov. Andrew Cuomo

Starting November 1, 2020, all passengers in NYS must buckle up regardless of where they sit in a motor vehicle including drivers and all passengers. Seat belts save lives and help prevent serious injuries in a traffic crash. This new law applies to trips in all TLC-licensed vehicles as well as all personal cars. Officers in New York State may stop vehicles if drivers or passengers are not using seat belts they do not need to observe other traffic violations. The penalty ...for a seat belt violation is a State fine of up to $50 and up to $100 and three points for the driver’s DMV license if a child under 16 is not properly buckled. Passengers 16 years old and over will receive a summons if not buckled up. If passengers 16 years old and over are traveling with a child who is not buckled up, that passenger will also receive a summonses. Drivers will be issued a summons for an unbuckled passenger under 16 years old or if the driver themselves is unbuckled. See more
