Greetings from quarantine all! We hope everyone is staying safe and sound as much as possible. In an amazing first, the NYS DEC is offering a completely online hunter safety course. Take it once and it’s good for life. For less than $20, it will be offered until June 30, and can be taken by anyone ages 11 and older and can be completed from a computer, tablet, or smart phone at any time. A hunter must be at least 12, though, to buy a license.... Remember, an adult pistol license holder with this certificate of qualification is legally permitted to bring a person between the ages of 14 and 20 pistol/revolver shooting, according to Section 265.20, Paragraph 7-e of the NYS Penal Law. https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/92267.html

By order of the Board of Directors, and in accordance with the Governor’s mandate, the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club will be closed beginning tomorrow (Saturday, March 21, 2020) at 12 noon. This closure will remain in effect until further notice. Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot know how long this will be the case. Today, Friday March 20, was the last day that any of the venues will be open. There will be no shooting beginning tomorrow. You will have access to the club... only until noon tomorrow (in case you have anything at the club which you must pick up.) Please exercise caution and common sense in the coming weeks. Stay healthy and stay safe. We will make every effort to keep you informed if and when there is any change to report.

Some exciting (and breaking) news! On Friday, March 27, the North Fork Breast Health Coalition will honor our Club with its special Community Spirit Award! The celebratory festivities will be part of the organization’s Sixth Annual Pink Pearl Gala in recognition of PRSC’s numerous public events, which have raised tens of thousands of dollars for Long Island breast cancer causes.... The cocktail reception, seated dinner, and dancing will be held from 6-10 PM in the Northampton Ballroom at East Wind Long Island, 5720 Route 25A, Wading River. Thank you once again for all of the members who have made club shoots and other fundraising events so exciting and fun. Speaking of fundraising, if anyone would like to share in the good times: Seating for the inspiring, wear-pink evening will be $125 per person and $95 for breast cancer survivors through www.northforkbreasthealth.org. To reserve individual seating or tables for a group, please leave a message at the coalition’s Riverhead office at 631-208-8889. For information about corporate sponsorship opportunities, or contributing to a gift basket, contact the event chair, Melanie McEvoy Zuhoski, at 917-699-5948 or [email protected].

Kevin Collins, one of Nassau County’s All-Star EMTs, is holding court right now at the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club. His First Aid/Trauma Course is the main event in the Elephant Room tonight. A special thanks to him from our duty men, guests, and friends for this informative session!
