Pediatric Associates supports the updated CDC recommendation to vaccinate children 12 years and older with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. We do NOT have the vaccine in our office and recommend going to city and state sites to check vaccine appt availability. Appts will likely be available once ACIP approves the recommendation. They are meeting May 12. Today the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to ...lower the age for vaccination to 12 years of age or older. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will convene the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at which time members will review the data presented by Pfizer BioNTech to the FDA and vote on recommendations for use of the vaccine in people 12-15 years of age. Immunization of this age group can commence once an ACIP recommendation for use has been approved. See more
