Good news/bad news: As poor countries get better at saving premature babies, most will live - but many will go blind. The same thing happened here in the USA, and we learned from it. You can stop babies from going blind. Please give to the Children's Eye Foundation SIBA Project.

All babies and children deserve to grow up with normal vision.

¡Los juguetes son increíbles! ¡¡Aún mejores son los juguetes que no lastiman los ojos !!

Happy fun fact Friday! Did you know your iris (the colored part of your eye) has 256 unique characteristics; your fingerprint has just 40? This is why eye scans are sometimes used for security related purposes. #FunFactFriday #Friday #Eyes #Retinascan #DNA #fingerprint #FunFact #Iris

Did you know that the human eye can tell apart about 10 million different colors? That’s a huge rainbow of color! #FunFactFriday #Eyes #Eyepower #color #colors #rainbow #vision #Friday #Fridaythoughts #FridayFun #Friyay

The main goal of vision screening is to identify children who have or are at risk of developing amblyopia, which can lead to permanent visual impairment unless ...treated in early childhood. Other problems that can be detected by vision screening include strabismus (eye misalignment), cataracts, glaucoma, ptosis (drooping eyelid), refractive errors such as myopia ("nearsightedness"), hyperopia ("farsightedness") and astigmatism, and other more serious conditions such as tumors or neurological diseases. #WellnessWednesday #Eyecare #Vision #Screening #Ophthalmology #Ophtha #Pediatrics #Wellness #children

Wear that brain bucket, kids!

Pediatric Ophthalmology, PC 07.09.2020

AUGUST 19, 2020 We welcome you to our practice and are here for you! And... we are taking precautions to keep you safe when you visit our offices.... 1. One child, one parent. No exceptions. We're not kidding! Don't bring the family. Seriously, we won't allow entry. 2. No mask = no entry. Children older than 2 years are expected to wear a mask. If babies can do it (many can!), then 2 year olds can do it. 3. No vented/valved masks. These allow your exhalation to escape and therefore don't stop the spread of virus. If you arrive with such a mask, we will provide a surgical mask (you can swap to the surgical mask or wear it over your vented mask). 4. Waiting room chairs have been reduced in number, coupled and bound together, and are socially distanced from each other. Don't rearrange, please. 5. Our HVAC system has been upgraded with special filters and we circulate the air more frequently. Certain areas also have air purifiers. 6. Upon entry, all are asked to apply sanitizer gel to hands or gloves (we provide it). We can SAFELY get through this pandemic together by being smart, tough, and kind to each other.

Decent people wear masks (nose covered, too!). Being decent is not difficult.

It's not politics, it's (simple) science. The Science Guy explains it so beautifully. Now wear your mask.

May 26, 2020 We are safely seeing ALL patients at this time. Kid's glasses broken? Squinting? Eyes crossing? Gooey? We have you covered. Safely. We're back, baby!... Health - and keeping/getting people healthy - is our first concern. As a medical practice we have always had safeguards in place to minimize disease transmission. It was not a big leap to make strategic physical and process changes to adjust to COVID19. In addition to physical changes (increased air circulation, reduced waiting room capacity, and more...), we have changed our procedures: No mask = no entry. One parent, one child. Temperature check at the door - only after the CDC recommended health questions are (properly) answered. More details at: www.pemd.org We also offer telemedicine appointments. 100% safe, 100% convenient. To schedule an office visit or a telemedicine visit, we welcome your call at (718) 468-9800.

Pediatric Ophthalmology, PC 14.07.2020

Telemedicine! All the cool kids are doing it! Howdy. Afraid to leave your house but your kid's eye is gooey/ pink/lumpy/bumpy/falling out of the socket...? All of the above? How about a friendly chat with a very experienced pediatric ophthalmologist or optometrist at PediatricEyeMD? It's 100% safe, you do it from your couch, and you don't even need to wear pants (but please do). ... Partner - even when we get back to "normal," telemedicine is here to stay. Try it. You'll love it! Once you do it, you won't ever want to sit in a doctor's waiting room for hours again. Oh, and the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends it. Don't delay necessary care. To schedule a telemedicine visit - paid for by your insurance, btw - call (718) 468-9800 x2 Our telecommuting scheduling staff is available M-Th 10-5 and Fri 10-4. https://services.aap.org//guidance-on-the-necessary-use-o/
