Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine is proud to welcome Dr. Leena Shiwbaran to our team! We are incredibly excited that Leena Shiwbaran will join our practice in Ju...ly. Dr. Shiwbaran is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A lifelong New Yorker, she received a BA from Columbia University followed by an MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2009. Dr. Shiwbaran completed her pediatric residency at NYU Langone Medical Center and was chosen to stay on an extra year as chief resident. After that, she practiced at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore and Flatiron Pediatrics. On top of all this, she’s also fluent in Spanish. A smart, kind and wonderfully thoughtful person, Dr. Shiwbaran has been caring for NYC children for over 10 years and we are excited for her to join our community on the Upper West Side. Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine announces today that Dr Michael Traister will retire as of June 26, 2020. Dr Traister has taken care of thousands of New York City and Westchester children and their families over the last 36 years. Michael Traister was born in Brooklyn, New York. He never strayed far, going to New York Medical College for medical school and Albert Einstein for his pediatric residency. Although formally retired, he hopes, after the pandemic, to still work part-time in each office, limiting his practice to older teens and young adults.
