Peoples' Voice Cafe 01.02.2021

CANCELLATION NOTICE SEPTEMBER 2020 MAY 2021 In mid-March, because of the covid-19 pandemic, the Peoples' Voice Cafe canceled the remainder of our September 2019 May 2020 season. While we later extended that cancellation through December 2020, we had hoped to resume our regular in-person program in January 2021. We now find that is impossible for three reasons:... The covid-19 pandemic continues to pose a danger to our volunteers, to our artists, and to our audiences. Community Church of New York, our venue, is currently closed, and we do not know when it will reopen. We do not know when New York City and New York State will permit concert venues such as ours to reopen. Furthermore, even if the restrictions are lifted, both the Peoples' Voice Cafe and Community Church of New York have decided to be exceedingly cautious and reopen slowly. Based upon these three factors, the Peoples' Voice Cafe Collective has reluctantly decided to cancel our entire September 2020 May 2021 season. We regret that we have to take this action, but the covid-19 pandemic is a force majeure, an extraordinary event that is beyond anyone's control. We will do our best to rebook the artists whose shows have been canceled, but it might take us more than a year to do so. At this point we hope to resume our regular in-person program on September 18, 2021. In the meantime we are presenting one show per month on-line as live streaming video. We are also looking into the possibility of holding a one-time special outdoor event in Spring 2021.

Performers: Pat Lamanna 01:40 The Peace Poets 27:08 Charlie King 59:26... Pat's songs have a strong folk influence, and cover issues such as peace, religion and the environment. Pat is a 2019 winner of the South Florida Folk Festival songwriting contest. She has three solo albums to her credit. One of her songs, "Peace Pilgrim," is featured in part on Pete Seeger's last album, Pete Seeger: The Storm King. Pat is thrilled to be back, virtually, at the People's Voice Cafe, one of her favorite venues. http://patlamanna.com https://facebook.com/Pat-Lamanna-Music-129013840571397 The Peace Poets are family born of Hip Hop, heart, and hope in New York City. Some have been friends since as early as three years old and over time they have built an artist collective of poets, Hip Hop performers, and educators founded on this friendship and their common love for community and creative expression. Grounded in the power of personal narratives and community, The Peace Poets create and have shared Spoken Word poetry, rap, and Movement Music that responds to social and political crisis in over 40 countries. https://facebook.com/ThePeacePoets/ http://thepeacepoets.com Charlie has been at the heart of American folk music for half a century, and has been writing songs for over 40 years. Charlie's witty political satire and his uncanny ability to find endearing songs about struggle and the human experience won him the 2017 Phil Ochs Award and numerous other honors. Tonight he will deliver humor, hope and healing through love songs, inspiring anthems, and incendiary broadsides. http://charlieking.org
