Caught up with the Somers Democrats this evening. Thank you to Chair Christine Robbins for having me. It’s always great to see friends!

Always great to connect with my hometown committee, the Lewisboro Democrats, and give an update on what I’m up to in Albany!

Saddened to hear about the passing of Democratic District Leader and State Committeewoman Matilda Gilbert. She was a committed and hardworking member of the Democratic party and will be missed. Sending my thoughts and prayers to her loved ones during these difficult times.

Drew Claxton is a longtime volunteer in the Peekskill community. Whether she has worked on environmental initiatives or promoted local economic development, Drew has truly given back to Peekskill. I proudly honored her tonight with a proclamation to highlight all of her achievements.

Having Sean Patrick Maloney as a partner in government has been valuable and I'm so thankful for his endorsement. Pete Harckham distinguished himself as one of the New York State Senate’s hardest working and most dependable new members during this term, which was good news for residents of the 40th Senate District. His leadership as chair of the Senate’s Committee on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse resulted in much-needed attention and smart legislative solutions to New York...’s opioid crisis, and he was similarly effective through his passing of legislation supporting workers during Indian Point’s decommissioning, protecting fragile drinking water supplies, increasing school funding and stabilizing taxes. Energetic and earnest, Pete is the consummate public servant, ready to do what’s necessary to strengthen our communities, and I’m sure he will continue to serve his district in exemplary fashion during his second term in the Senate. After a fun day of campaigning, a little ice cream hits the spot!

I went around to polling sites in Peekskill, Yorktown, Mount Kisco and Pound Ridge to thank voters for coming out. We heard people stood on line for 3+ hours, which is absolutely incredible. This is what democracy looks like!

Using racist stereotypes is an unacceptable way to stir fear in our community. What my opponent has depicted in his tv ad is despicable, but unfortunately I'm not surprised. This is the same person who defended Trump's "very fine people on both sides" comments in regards to White Supremacists in Charlottesville. And, the same person who refused to condemn a truck in Carmel with a "F*ck Black Lives" sign this summer. Time and time again, Rob Astorino had the chance to call out racism, but he declined.

Under a Democratic majority, New York has made major strides in environmental protection, education funding and tackling the opioid crisis. I've made it my priority to protect these Hudson Valley values during my time as your senator. We must keep moving New York forward.

Working with municipal leaders throughout my district allows me to tackle a different project every day, and it's been a pleasure to be a partner in government with Pound Ridge Supervisor Kevin Hansen. Whether it's addressing our infrastructure needs or calling on our electric companies to restore power following a major storm, I face every issue head on.

It's been an honor to serve in the Senate alongside Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. Her leadership has been an inspiration and her dedication has truly changed New York for the better. We've worked on a vast array of legislation to benefit people throughout my district and the state, and I thank her for her work, partnership and her endorsement! Working as a representative requires a balanced approach. It's necessary to draft effective and strong legislation, but I need to provide constituent services for district residents. I'm proud to represent a district that's rich in diversity, and the Hispanic population plays a major role in that. Since the start of my term in the Senate, I've worked as an advocate for Hispanic rights. This is close to my heart because my brother-in-law is from Mexico and three of my grandparents are immigrants themselves. I want to keep working to help residents of the 40th Senate District get closer to achieving their American Dream.
