The first performance since March took place this evening at the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome. The staging may look different, but we are so excited for the return of sacred music to these beautiful churches and cathedrals.

On this special feast day, we celebrate St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French saint who entered the Visitation Monastery in Paray-le-Monial, France at age 23. Here, Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary and showed her his Sacred Heart, originating the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord. On the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, we pray with all the pilgrims who traveled with Peter’s Way Tours to places of Marian devotion, such as sanctuaries of Our Lady in Lourdes, Fatima, La Salette, Altotting, Ephesus, Mt. Carmel, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Knock, Mexico City, Czestochowa, Montserrat, Zaragoza, and so many more! May our shepherds always model for us true devotion and love for Our Lady. Today we honor St. Thérèse of Lisieux as the patron saint of the missions. Though she never traveled, in her Carmel cloister she loved praying for the missions. On this feast of St. Pius of Pietrelcina, we are invited to contemplate Jesus crucified and his great love for us. Today is the feast of St. Matthew, a tax collector who answered the call to be an apostle of Christ. Peter's Way pilgrims who visit the "Eternal City" of Rome will visit the Church of St. Louis of France, in which hangs Caravaggio’s masterpiece, "The Calling of St. Matthew," as well as the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, where Camillo Rusconi's sculpture of St. Matthew is displayed in the nave.

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Januarius! St. Januarius (San Gennaro) is the patron of Naples, whose bones and blood are preserved in the cathedral as relics.
