In Honor of Our Alumni and Nurses Everywhere
There are a number of tips that you can employ in order to do your best in an academic nursing program. Here are 5 of them to help you stand out in nursing school!
Patricia Rojas, a 2017 Alumna of PSON's AAS Nursing program was recognized this year by the National Association of Hispanic Nurses for her excellence in serving New York City's Hispanic community. Rojas is employed at New York-Presbyterian Hospital as an RN and worked inside a temporary tent set up outside the emergency department at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center as the city dealt with the overwhelming number of patients during the COVID-19 ...pandemic. Her statement on nursing during the pandemic: "Most importantly, it reminded me of why I became a nurse. I became a nurse because I wanted to help people in the most vulnerable moments of their lives and that is something I will never take lightly." Congratulations on your many achievements Patricia, We are so proud of everything you have accomplished!
We cannot say thank you enough times to our nurses. The bravery they showed in caring for others during the height of the pandemic is truly awe inspiring. There are no words for their selflessness.
PSON is delighted to share that Michael King, Jr. (Class of 2004), was just named the head of the New York Special Victims Unit. Michael became a registered nurse (RN) in 2005 and later went on to study forensic nursing. We could not be prouder of one of our alum. Michael, Congratulations on your achievement and Best of Luck!

Our Nursing Students Volunteering During the Pandemic
Tuesday, at 3 pm, thousands of members of our Mount Sinai family stood in solidarity and silence to show support for our community; support for our Black colleagues, family, friends, and neighbors; and support for those who are peacefully protesting the killing of George Floyd, and so many others before him. PSON is so proud to be a part of the Mount Sinai family. The photo is from Mount Sinai Morningside.
This is nursing at its best--this is what it is all about.
Today we honor Florence Nightingale on her 200th Birthday. "Nursing is a progressive art such that to stand still is to go backwards." - Florence Nightingale

Today for #NationalNursesWeek we want to celebrate an Alum AND faculty member, Professor Vivian Lien! Vivian graduated from the Phillips School of Nursing in 2015 with her AAS. She went on to achieve her BSN at CUNY School of Professional Studies, where she is currently due to graduate this month with her MSN in Nursing Education. Prof. Lien has experience working in telemetry, step-down, and medical-surgical units as well as in community health. At PSON, she is a Nursing In...structor and Lead Faculty for multiple courses including Adult Health Nursing I and II, Mental Health Nursing, and Transitions to Practice. She works closely with students from the time they enter PSON up until their time to take the NCLEX-RN and transition from student nurse to practicing nurse. She constantly strives to enhance the students’ learning experience throughout their journey at PSON! Vivian is an indispensable educator here at PSON and we are so lucky to have her here working with our faculty, staff, and students. Vivian is seen here in front of MSQ where she is deployed to work with COVID-19 in NYC. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our school Vivian! #NYCstrong #MountSinaiStrong #NYCNurse #NationalNursesWeek #PhillipsSchoolofNursing #NursesWeek #YearoftheNurse2020 #YearoftheNurse #Nursing #NursingSchool #PSON
