I want this post to bring awareness to the hairstylist community and as well clients that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. It’s one thing to be this ignorant but it’s another to completely be as disrespectful as this woman to a licensed professional. I will not put up with anyone who tells me how hair works. I will also not allow anyone to continue to text me in such a way as this woman did. ... What this woman did not comprehend was that she wanted a service that without a doubt would consist of using shampoo due to the fact that once lightener was applied and done processing, that she need it rinsed out. Then, after all fashion colors were applied and done processing, they too would need to be rinsed out with shampoo. SIMPLE. Everyone has buildup on their scalp. It’s natural. The skin cells covering your body are constantly dying and regrowing. The scalp produces a natural, waxy oil called sebum from glands beneath the skin and some people produce more than others. In addition to sebum and dead skin, your scalp produces sweat. This can also add to your scalp buildup. And finally, residue from hair products is another likely cause of scalp buildup. It’s really sad that one would actually believe that they are exempt from this and that shampooing your hair is bad for you or a big no-no. It’s laughable.
