Thanks to a very generous donation from the Dejana Foundation, Northwell Health is conducting free COVID-19 tests at the PW Adult Activities Center, Sunday - Thurs for at least the next six weeks. Please see the flyer below for dates, times and contact info.

On Monday, November 23 from 10am to 2pm, the St. Francis Hospital outreach bus will be at the Adult Activities Center giving free health screenings and/or flu shots. Please see the flyer for details. Stay safe everyone!

The Town of North Hempstead is opening the Adult Activities Center tomorrow as a cooling center again from 10am to 8pm. They are also offering free taxi service to and from the Center/cooling center. Please call 311 to reserve a taxi. Masks are required. Stay cool!

The Town of North Hempstead is hosting a cooling center at the Adult Activities Center (80 Manorhaven Blvd, use entrance at right side of building) through at least tomorrow. Hours are 10am to 8pm and masks must be worn while in the building. If you do not have a mask, one will be given to you. Stay safe and cool!

The Center congratulates Board Member Richard Tavarez who was selected by Long Island Business News as a 2020 Diversity Trailblazer Award Honoree. Richard is a branch manager at the Chase bank on Main Street in Port Washington. Congratulations Richard and thank you for all you do for our senior citizens and the Port Washington community!

Many of you know that Plant a Row For the Hungry grows vegetables that are donated to the food pantry at Our Lady of Fatima Outreach Center. The Outreach Center otherwise only accepts non-perishables so they don't have a refrigerator, which is sorely needed to store these wonderful fresh veggies until they are picked up by needy families in the community. If someone has a side-by-side refrigerator that is in good condition (or would like to buy a new one for the Outreach Center), please contact Marvin Makofsky at [email protected] or 516-510-8408. Aside from doing a great deed, your donation will be tax-deductible!

As healthcare facilities are already running low on protective gear for their staff, Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton and fellow legislators unanimously approved a Bl...anket Gift Resolution today. This emergency item enables the County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to accept assistance (i.e., donations) to combat the COVID-19 virus. The resolution states that gifts or grants of real or personal property can be accepted from any public or private source, but not money. Donations of medical masks, gowns, gloves, antibacterial and all other medical supplies are desperately needed. The donated items will be distributed to healthcare institutions, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and critical-identified medical practices. Since the need is unprecedented, no donation is too small. We will inform everyone about the drop-off location(s) as soon as we know, but please spread the word. Our brave healthcare workers need our help!
