There is actually a formula that is commonly used in order to determine how many portable toilets will be needed for a given event. Basically, you need to look at the number of hours the event will be, the number of people attending, and whether beverages will be served.

Planning an all-day event for a small crowd of about 100? Arrange for at least 5 portable units to accommodate a group of this size under routine conditions. If beer or alcohol will be served, increase that number to 7, since alcohol consumption boosts facility usage.
