This is an important post about me and how we are functioning as a home inspection company during this current situation. Gov Cuomo, ESD and others have decided that real estate, home inspections, and appraisers are to be considered essential. Although home inspections are listed as essential as declared by Gov Cuomo we will continue to operate under very strict restrictions. ... Social distancing, PPE and disinfecting the work area both before and after are very important. For society’s, clients, our family’s and our own health we will only do inspections on unoccupied homes with no person to person contact. No clients will be allowed or have been allowed to the inspection process. All of our findings and communication will continue to be done virtually. The only exception to unoccupied homes is if it is truly an emergency. For example, someone becoming homeless due to lack of housing. And that will still require no person to person contact. If I arrive to an inspection or I am at an inspection and someone else is there, we will cancel the inspection immediately. As you may know this situation and decisions have been difficult and this plan could be altered in the near future.

Why are flashings important? Without them you can get hidden moisture that can do damage that you might not see until it becomes a bigger problem. At Precision, our trained inspectors will use the latest technology to help us diagnose these issues.

A few radon installation tips. It’s not always a good idea to use uninsulated gutter downspout for your vent pipe in northern climates. But just as important it’s imperative that the joints are installed correctly so moisture damage doesn’t happen at the siding. This one was installed with the joints backwards. Some people feel that gutter downspout looks aesthetically more appealing than PVC pipe, it’s not a good idea to use because the seams don’t seal well and the lack of insulation causes more condensation to form inside the pipe.
