Years in the making, Raymarine and FLIR released their new Solid-State open array radar at Lauderdale on Weds, and happy to share some exclusive never-before seen by the public screenshots from Niantic.. which are incredible; they honestly don’t do it justice and mostly limited it to Overlay images for perspective, but very excited as we have been waiting for almost 6 years for this radar to be ready to go, and it's not some beta release. Lot of work went into this which we appreciate, as some other company will unleash beta units to the public and tweak it with software.. Unacceptable for our people. So enjoy, and have a great weekend to our extended fam! BTW, this is a link to the official product page; https://www.raymarine.com/marine-radar/open-array/cyclone/ #raymarine #cyclone

It's coming to that time of year where we have clients bring boat to PMC HQ for fall and winter projected, and rather than emailing files every time, figured it would be best to post our 'Recommended' charted approached. These are NOT for Navigation Use, only a guide to be used with your own equipment to verify. Just trying to keep our people from hitting Spindle Rock, as it IS marked very confusingly.

Precision Marine Center 26.01.2022

Eastern Approach, be mindful of the S turn going back towards Davenport shore; that is intentional to avoid Spindle Rock.

Precision Marine Center 06.01.2022

As we approach the time where we have clients come tp Precision for fall/winter refits, we figured it would benefit everyone to post some suggestions for navigating the inlet. We will follow this post with the approach from the East. Thanks to Nobeltec TZ software for allowing us to make these creations extremely simple to customize.

Congratulations to Furuno for winning the prestigious and coveted NMEA Technology Award for their TZT3 w/ PBG. Well earned. Keep the support coming as it’s been, this system has been a game changer since V2.

Congratulations to Furuno for their NMEA Award wins last week.

Tweaking a few things this morning, still very happy with how this boat came out. A real beast. Don't try to outrun her..

Furuno's solid-state 200W (25kW) Doppler Radar, giving you better close range detection than any traditional high powered radar, on top of better range and target discrimination. Best digital radar on the market right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8p8jitSbUs

Furuno is performing a series of comparative tests with their new Multi-Function Displays side-to-side with those made by other companies including Garmin, Raymarine, & Simrad. Essentially a Consumer Reports review, which will include over the next few episodes to demonstrate radar and fishfinder performance, all with each system set to Auto/Out of the Box settings with updated software across the board. Going to be interesting.. Enjoy!

This is a hugely exciting new series, where Furuno is going to compare each of the 'Big Four' electronics packages objectively as possible between things like simplicity of operating each MFD, radar and fishfinder performance, all with literally 'Apples to Apples' systems; 24'' dome, same transducer, even using same bulds of Yellowfin CC's. Very interested to see what they find, as I know for a fact Furuno will be critiqing things of their own that may be inferior, and the videos will literally let the public decide on their own as those don't allow much bias. Wanted to let everyone know these new episodes are now going to be released and to give us all something to watch other than reruns of The Office.

For decades, the biggest disadvantage to a high kW output radar was the issue of ultra-short ranges/targets being obscured due to the 'Main Bang' and it's suppression. Think about how a buoy would disappear on the radar as you approached it and reappear once you passed it by a bit. This affected ALL radars relative to their power, but was more of an issue with 6kW-25kW scanners and you'd see it more pronounced the higher you'd go. Obviously, solid-state radars have been able to overcome this problem just by their nature, but pictures speak louder than words. This video is shocking as it's showing off the DRS25A-NXT (a 'light marine' industry first, excluding the $50K commercial stand-alone S-Band radars) which puts out the equivalent power of a 25kW Magnetron radar! Crazy times we live in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8p8jitSbUs

An update to our clients and friends, our offices and field operations are shut down as a result of the current COVID-19 crisis. That said, we are still able to supply parts and equipment via drop-shipments directly to you. This includes everything you would find in any marine supply store; rodholders and radars, soap and sonars. We will extend wholesale pricing to all, as every little bit helps keep us going during this tough time. We sincerely appreciate all the support and most importantly we hope that everyone remains healthy and safe while we all navigate through this extremely difficult time. Please reach out to us via the link below for any questions or inquiries. Take care, fam! https://www.precisionmarinecenter.com/contact

Unbiased reviews like this are hard to come by from an outfit without any agenda. Worth reading, keep in mind this is from a DOME! An as Furuno announced at the Furuno Dusseldorf Show in Germany 2 weeks ago, they're now debuting higher output solid state Doppler radars in addition to their '6kW' 25W (same as the dome) for identifying birds with sharper discrimination, not to mention more range. https://www.furuno.com//334/upload/NXTseries_E_200120_U.pdf In addtition, they're... going to start shipping the NEW SCX series of Satellite Compasses, which will be super compact compared with the SC30/SC33 models and have an amazing performance with the new sensor arrangement. I got to see this thing in action at the NMEA Conference in September and I was blown away by the performance and multipath mitigation. They literally COVERED the sensor and it was still able to provide insane heading performance, heave compensation, and comes in at almost HALF the price of the SC33 without the very strict mouting requirements. Even the Nobeltec test boat out west mounted the unit UPSIDE DOWN.. still performed. Unbelievable. https://www.furuno.com//Brochure/484/upload/SCX2021_EN_200 I honestly don't see why this will become the heading sensor of choice for any autopilot, NMEA0183 OR NMEA2000. As Bart Scott from the Jets said after we beat the Patriots to get to the AFC Championship "Can't wait." See more

For any of our clients/fans/followers, we shut down from Friday of this week, the 20th until January 6th. That said, if anyone is looking to still take advantage of our End of Fiscal promotion, we would need those orders by Thursday as our Christmas Party starts in the AM of Friday.. Once that tequila starts flowing, it's a wrap. More importantly, thank you to EVERYONE of our supporters for another great year, and hope we can continue to provide the same level of personal service in the New Year. Happy Holidays to our extended PMC Fam!

A great video featuring the Fisheries Legend himself, Matt Wood of Furuno, showing off the Omni-Directional 8L in conjunction with our friends at Atlantic Marine Electronics of Viking Yachts. This is, as Matt explains, a '3D' Underwater Radar' that has trickled down from the commercial market to the light marine and hardcore sportfishing crowd. Here's a link to the product page, and there are plenty of great articles on the web profiling how big of a game changer this unit has been over the past few years. https://www.furunousa.com/en/products/csh8lmk2

Precision Marine Center 13.08.2020

From now thru the end of the year, Precision is offering to match or even beat any price on equipment out there on the web. We're looking to boost our volume for the end of the fiscal year to get our numbers above certain plateaus that allows us to be competitive with these online guys, who have been killing us as it's much easier to 'Add to Cart' at 1AM than to contact a brick an mortar outfit that doesn't sell via eCommerce. With the factory rebates also being offered, it's... not a bad time for anyone to take a look. Also, keep in mind this applies to EVERYTHING we supply; engine parts (Volvo, Cummins, Yanmar) to battery chargers, anchors and windlasses, zincs and cutlass bearings, outriggers and even fenders.. and of course, electronics. A handheld VHF or a full package, it doesn't matter. Even if it doesn't turn into anything, we appreciate just the chance to quote. Make up a wish list and just give us a shout directly via phone or email next week. Happy Holidays to our extended PMC fam! See more

Just unbelievable.. Another incredible addition to the Furuno lineup. The video doesn't even do it justice.

To the PMC fam in the NYC Metro Area, we wanted to let everyone know that NOAA's NYC WX channel KWO35 at 162.550 mHz (CH 1 on most US Radios) is still down, STILL after over two years. Many people use this as a way to confirm if their VHF radio is receiving, but rather than just change everyone's radio with no results, better to put out a maritime 'PSA.' If you need to check your radio's TX/RX, use the Sea Tow Automated Radio Check System - https://www.seatow.com/service-locator NOAA has promised the transmitter will be back online come Autumn of 2019, but don't hold your breath. Here's a link to NOAA's WX page where you can see the status and check the bulletin to keep up to date. https://www.weather.gov/okx/wxradio

Proud to finally report that CMOR Mapping is now available for the Furuno Marine Electronics TZT2 MFDs, as well as the Simrad Yachting Evo's and Raymarine Lighthouse III MFDs. CMOR provides the highest resolution bathymetric bottom contour charts available for purchase, and have changed the game when it comes to detail for ledges, drops, wrecks, rock piles, you name it. Take a look at some of the videos on YouTube to really get an idea of what these charts do, the video below just touches on the local region up in our area. We'll be running a special promo for these through the end of August, so give us a shout directly for details. Happy 4th PMC Family!
