Most married couples will tease their spouse and say that there’s a difference between hearing and LISTENING. You can HEAR or detect when something is said, but whether your brain is LISTENING & comprehends it.well that’s another story! Research has actually been able to see changes at the level of the brain in individuals with hearing loss who communicate orally (had normal hearing at one point in their lives). One study looked at functional MRIs (aka measuring the b...rain’s activity) to assess its response to speech. They discovered that there was reduced grey matter in the hearing portion of the brain...this grey matter is responsible for processing information in the brain!
