The Wall Street Journal documents an encouraging trend: a wave of engagement in volunteering with and donating to city parks! Between July 2020 and March 2021, Prospect Park Alliance alone saw a 142% increase in new volunteers and a 42% increase in individual donors. Thanks to this rise in community involvement, Prospect Park Alliance is making essential improvements throughout the park and engaging more workers to ensure that Brooklyn's Backyard is renewed and ready for all visitors. Thank you to all who have lent a hand in Prospect Park! Read more: https://bit.ly/2Q8cjyi c. Paul Martinka https://www.prospectpark.org//prospect-park-experiences-w/
It’s baby bird season in Prospect Park, so we’re here with a friendly PSA. There are many reasons not to touch a bird that you spot on the forest floor. Baby birds with feathers are fledglings, which is the stage of birds' life before they gain the ability to fly. It’s natural for fledglings to be on the forest floor, and likely that their parents are nearby. Even if the baby bird doesn’t have feathers, please refrain from touching it. A baby bird’s best chance for survival i...s with its mother. Consult this handy chart for extenuating circumstances! If you wish to pass along information concerning a baby bird, contact Prospect Park Alliance at [email protected] or the Urban Park Rangers by calling 311. This week, the Prospect Park Alliance #PhotooftheWeek is not a photo, but a painting. Created by artist David Nakabayashi (on Instagram as davidnakabayashi), it represents a view of my city coming back to life.

Sneak Peek: Great work is happening on the creation of new entrances at Flatbush Avenue! Prospect Park Alliance has placed granite boulders, courtesy of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital (unearthed during their recent construction), in the new landscape and will serve as a scrambling wall for all to enjoy! This project, funded by Mayor Bill de Blasio through the Parks without Borders program, adds two new entrances along the park’s Flatbush Avenue perimeter: the first new entrances to the park since the 1940s. c.
