Last fall, the Port Washington Water District, Residents Forward and students from the Port Washington School District unveiled an art exhibit at Bay Walk Park called Every Drop Counts. With the help of Port Washington North Mayor Bob Weitzner, the educational installation allows members of the public to take in the park’s beautiful sights while also learning about the importance of water conservation as well as ways to conserve.

Hot, dry weather and a lack of rain over the summer typically increases water demand. With the demand for water only growing and our capacity impacted by the removal of three supply wells from service to get treatment for emerging contaminants, conserving water is more important than ever before. Watering your lawn every day is in violation of Nassau County's Lawn Water Ordinance which restricts lawn watering every day between the hours of 10am and 4pm and requires odd-numbered homes to water on odd days and even-numbered homes to water on even days.
