Restaurants are like street lamps. If the street lamp goes out, the darkness is going to come in. They are so important. They are so vital to our neighborhoods and to our communities and we should never take them for granted. - Terence Tubridy @ttubridy of @therockawayhotel @bungalowbarny @igchospitality We must continue to do everything we can to support our local restaurants! Order directly from them via phone or their website - instead of using 3rd party delivery apps.... Let’s work together to help keep our street lamps on, and the spirit of Queens hospitality alive. : @laurenscala @nbcnewyork

Established in 1918, The Kew-Forest School is the oldest independent co-ed, college preparatory school in Queens. Families and staff represent 70+ nationalitie...s and speak 30+ languages. At Kew-Forest, you will find a community that nurtures lifelong learners, educators who inspire young people, and students who support each other. The School’s small size allows it to be nimble and quick in response to individual needs of students as well as challenges faced in education today. Kew-Forest offers on-site, hybrid, and remote learning for students in Preschool through Grade 12. Due to the current pandemic, the best way to learn about the School is to attend a Virtual Open House hosted via Zoom. Even in the virtual environment, prospective applicants will have the opportunity to meet current faculty, administrators, and parent ambassadors as well as to ask questions of current students. The School’s last Virtual Open House in 2020 will take place this Saturday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m. To RSVP and learn more, please visit: kewforest.org/OpenHouse http://foresthillsgardensblog.com//kew-forest-hosts-last-/

Just before midnight on the eve of Thanksgiving, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to grant an emergency injunction in favor of the Diocese of Brooklyn in its case against Governor Andrew Cuomo for imposing COVID-19 restrictions on religious gatherings. As a result of the decision, New York is temporarily prohibited from enforcing the governor’s executive order that limits gatherings in houses of worship based on color-coded zones in Brooklyn and Queens. An appeal of the district c...ourt’s decision, which denied the injunction back in October, is currently being heard in the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which has scheduled oral arguments for December 18. http://queensledger.com//article-Supreme-Court-sides-with-

Underneath the bridge overpass near Fresh Pond Road and Myrtle Avenue, residents and business owners have created a COVID-19 memorial made of paper flowers and lights in honor of locals who have died from the virus. In addition to colorful paper flowers adorning the wall, the memorial features a quote from a Harlem-based poet that reads, If the world is a stage, and we all wear masks, let love be the final act, in gold lettering. On Friday, community leaders, elected offici...als and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce unveiled the display and encouraged families who lost loved ones to pin their photos on the memorial. http://queensledger.com//article-Flower-wall-remembers-loc
