#GivingTuesday is well underway and we're so grateful for the generosity in our community (today and always!). This year has asked more of us, more than most could have anticipated. At Ramapo, we had to shift our expectations, transition our programs, and reimagine our approach so as to continue to serve our community. Our work has pivoted to provide essential childcare services, family respite retreats on our Rhinebeck campus, virtual parent and educator trainings, and in-pe...rson remote learning support for school-age children. In addition, we have been able to continue our residential programming for young adults and our partnership with Boards of Cooperative Educational Services, providing alternative classrooms for local middle and high school students. Please help us to have an even wider reach by starting your own fundraiser, sharing this post, or making a gift today by visiting www.ramapoforchildren.org/donate, or by donating through Facebook -- any amount is appreciated!
"We were thinking about, in particular this moment in time, the ways in which we're interconnected with one another and interdependent, and to have more sensitivity about that as we think about creating communities for young people." - Dr. Rachel Lissy Ramapo's Senior Program Officer, Dr. Rachel Lissy, was an educational consultant on the podcast series "Nice White Parents". The series explores the relationship between white parents and segregation at one New York City schoo...l. Yesterday, Rachel joined the podcast's host Chana Joffe-Walt on The Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC to talk about the series. DYCD Youth Connect will be hosting a series of virtual town halls entitled We the YOUTH, You the People", with the first one starting on Wednesday, August 19 at 3pm. One of the goals of the town hall series is to create a safe space for young people to harness their voice and power. Attention School Leaders: The National School Climate Center at Ramapo for Children is pleased to offer improved options for measuring your school's climate as you navigate difficult decisions around COVID-19 and reopening this fall. To learn more, view the post below!
For the first time in 98 years, Ramapo has not opened our residential camp. This was a heartbreaking decision. While grounded in our values and commitment to health and safety, we recognize that our decision will take a toll on children and families, many of whom need Ramapo now more than ever. In that light, we have made our campus available to camp families for several days at time. More than half of our campers already require scholarships to participate. In the near term,... your support will help families escape the City, enjoy some respite and provide some activities and freedom to children who have been cooped up for months. Looking further ahead, your support will help ensure that we can meet the growing need for our services next year and beyond. Give whatever you can. And then, this time around, give a little bit more. Help us make sure that Ramapo is there for the people who need us most. Donate Today! https://bit.ly/RamapoAppeal
