7 yrs to the day I was very fortunate to experience an out door game at the professional level. AHL Rochester vs Lake Erie @ Frontier Field in Rochester. Snowed all day 6 degrees to start and 4 degrees at the finish ... After I called a goal with .2 seconds left in the game to force OT.... One of my Friends, co-worker (hockey official), and most important a Rayzor Dawg House Customer (his picture will be on the Wall under Ref Room) is in ICU at Buffalo General Hospital. Our good friend Derek Cline (long time on ice official in the Western New York area) was admitted to the ICU 2 weeks ago with COVID-19 and last night he was put on a ventilator as a life saving measure. He has not been able to keep his blood oxygen level at an appropriate level in the 90s by himself. His oxygen level fell into the 70s, thus he was put on a ventilator. Derek has been sedated and will remain under until his levels are at an appropriate level. On behalf of the referee community we are starting an additional fundraiser to help Derek and Joyelle during these troubling times! Any donation, no amount is too small, will help the Cline’s through this long uphill battle to recovery. We know how strong the hockey community is and all of our brothers and sisters come together when we have friends in need! We thought this would be an extra way to help them out during these unprecedented times. We know a lot of people may be out of work or strapped financially during this pandemic and holiday time so we understand if prayers are all you can give!
