This Sunday with @glendalysmedina - pay as you can // Timed Expressions // In this workshop, Glendalys will guide you through a visualization and movement exercise. Then, ask each of you to go on a treasure hunt to find three items you can trace. For example: the cap of bottle for a circle, your phone charger as a square, or the corners of a hardcover book to make a triangle. The three items are up to you. Tracing those items we will draw a visual representation from the prev...iously mentioned visual/ physical exercise. The workshop ends asking the audience to compare the similarities and differences of each experience. ADULTS & KIDS +7 Materials needed: sheets of paper, drawing and coloring tools, some random household items and an open mind. No drawing skills needed. (via ZOOM) Glendalys Medina is a Nuyorican conceptual interdisciplinary visual artist who was born in Puerto Rico and raised in the Bronx. Medina investigates how patterns like habits, perspective, and value structures download into our psyche. Historically societies categorized and define using image and language. To redefine history Medina blends geometry, neuro-linguistic programming, self-help, the New Thought movement, Caribbean and Hip-Hop culture into an interdisciplinary practice that deconstructs image and language disrupting the downloading of patterns to create new value structures to reclaiming a higher self.

Today we lost a profound artist- Zarina Hashmi -Perhaps you got to see her work recently at @metbreuer exhibition titled from her work Home is a Foreign Place// or at @centerforbookarts exhibit. At the shop, she printed with her dear friend @devrajdakoji from 1980-90s // about her Born in Aligarh, India. Lived and worked NYC London, New Delhi - Zarina’s visually minimal patterns were counting time and movement- themes often were on displacement, migration, and cultural and religious identity. - last two images were printed at the shop.
