Last week, we talked about the benefits art can have on elders’ physical and mental health. Today, we’re back with two more reasons why you should host art classes in your elder residence! Art is an easy and relaxing way to help your elders use their hand and arm muscles on a regular basis. Whether they’re drawing, painting, sculpting, scrapbooking, or coloring, they’ll be able to improve motor skills while doing something enjoyable and chatting with friends. Art is a great w...ay to help elders stay mentally healthy, active, and engaged. No matter what form of art they’re doing, it can help them practice and retain skills like problem-solving and creative thinking in a similar way puzzles like crosswords and sudoku can! #art #assistedliving #seniorcare #behavioralhealth #elderliving #memorycare #skillednursing #seniornurse #eldernurse #longtermcare #caregiver #nursecall #healthcare #healthcareworker #healthcareindustry #nursinghome #caregivers
Caregivers, elder home staff, and friends and family of elders, here’s your friendly reminder to pay an elder you love, or any elder for that matter, a compliment. It can be on anything from their clothes, hair, smile, or even a talent that they have. A compliment, call, text, or even a letter is one of the best ways to bring joy to an elder’s life, especially if they live in an elder residence and don’t get many visitors. There’s no easy way to look back over the last year in the skilled nursing sector, writes Jordyn Reiland from skillednursingnews.com. Her article The Quotes That Defined 2021 in Skilled Nursing and Hint at What’s Ahead takes a look at developments, trends, and events that defined the skilled nursing industry in 2021, and makes her predictions for 2022. Skilled nursing in 2021 was defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing shortages in nursing homes nationwide, and se...nior living vacancy rates at an all-time high. But there were bright spots too, including the development of several vaccines, a decline in COVID nursing home death rates, and family reunions. As we approach February of 2022, RCare wishes you and your family a safe and healthy year. What’s missing from your senior residence? According to seniorlivingforesight.net, it might be a love meter! Accushield, a sign-in and health screening kiosk, added a love meter to their dashboard which allows staff to see which residents are the least visited and may be in need of some extra care and attention. Thanks to the post-holiday blues, many nursing home residents may be feeling lonely due to the lower number of visitors in January compared to December. With COVI...D-19 variants spreading, further limiting visitation opportunities, nursing home residents may be feeling extra lonely right now. So, take this as a reminder that a small act like calling a senior or sending them a card can make their day. Best of all (when it’s safe), stop by for a visit and give them a hug. What’s something that most other nurse-call companies can’t do, but RCare can? Wired/wireless hybrid systems! Imagine the simplicity of only having one nurse call system across your CCRC campus. One that’s easy for caregivers to learn and caters to multiple levels of care. But - it’s flexible because of its ability to add wireless features where wired would otherwise be required. With our hybrid system, you’re able to escalate calls to additional levels of care as an added ...level of response if a call goes unanswered.* That means if there is no staff readily available in your skilled building, the call can be forwarded to staff in Assisted or Independent Living. Do you prefer that your care levels operate independently? We can facilitate that too. Your elders deserve the high level of detail and exemplary care RCare’s hybrid systems provide. *cross care level notification not currently available on RCM Learn more: rcare.com #assistedliving #seniorcare #behavioralhealth #elderliving #memorycare #skillednursing #seniornurse #eldernurse #longtermcare #caregiver #healthcare #healthcareworker #healthcareindustry #nursinghome #caregivers #caregiverappreciation #caregiverappreciationday #nursecallsystem #nursecall #calllight #calllightsystem #calllightsystems #healthcareworkers #rochester #roc #rochesterny #ny #upstateny #greaterroc

She [Cecibel Quintanilla de Medrano, CNA] is loved by all of her teammates and residents, said Kimberly Demarcus, Cecibel's supervisor at Renaissance of Annandale. She truly cares for the residents in her care. As we see and hear on the news, these are difficult positions to be in, let alone to volunteer for such a monumental job! said Mary Beth Guyette of University Hospital in Augusta GA., when she nominated Megan Snead. Amy Yamriska observed that Janelle Zacho, Direc...tor of Nursing at Columbia Health Care Center, investigated and implemented safety protocols for the facility well before criteria were released by the state. These are just a few of the wonderful things said by those who nominated the winning caregivers of our first Caregiver of the Year award. We loved hearing their stories and can't wait to hear more for our second annual Caregiver of the Year award. We're accepting nominations until January 31, 2022. RCare’s founder and president, Myron Kowal, is active in the Rochester community, and was impressed by the good work Open Door Mission - Rochester, NY is doing. Among the many challenges that homeless people face, one of the biggest is communication, and having a permanent contact number that people can use to reach them, Kowal said. It’s important for people when they’re looking for a job, and for housing, and for receiving the services to help them get back on their feet. When I heard about this need, I knew we had to help. #RochesterNY #RochesterNews #OpenDoorMission
