Reczko’s Dough

With the restaurant chains continuing to move forward and big box stores striving and surpassing sales goals, it’s time to come home. Our locally owned small b...usinesses have never needed us more. It is estimated that up to 40% of all small businesses will be forced to close their doors due to the virus. You can help! Reczko’s Dough in the Salmon River Mall epitomizes the words "Local and Foodie". This family-owned food stand offers fair food ranging from deep-fried Oreo cookies to the Grim Reaper a monster sandwich loaded with fresh, slow-roasted pulled pork, deep-fried pickles then topped with their signature spicy ranch. You can also have a Heart Attack for only $1.00 more or The Defibrillator to bring you back. Best yet, it allows a dining opportunity while supporting the small businesses located throughout the Salmon River Mall. Today I went somewhat conservative. The crispy chicken sandwich was crispy while still juicy on the inside. The white cheddar cheese on top was welcomed and out of the norm as a choice. While they also have a version with macaroni and cheese on top and a bed of onions, I stuck to the plain Jane today. The tomato was fresh and juicy, squirting as I bit into the sandwich. The fries were lightly coated and crispy and not in need of catchup (why ruin tasty fries?). As always I strongly suggest taking that first bite, before you add salt or anything. Sometimes less is more. Please take a moment to look at the menu, which is limited due to Covid (basically a lack of business) they still offer an array of choices not normally found at a mall. Poutine (fries smothered in cheese curds), deep-fried cheese curds, sausage gravy fries, country fried chicken, and much more. Not currently available is their famous cannoli’s. The owners are Rob and Amanda Reczko, who also own Reczko's Crafts located directly around the isle from the restaurant. Before opening the mall location they traveled the state selling numerous woodworking items from signs to furniture. They also have sold products at the Lowville Cream Cheese Festival. Before this, they owned Reczko’s Red Hots, a hot dog stand that later became a food truck, and Reczko’s Skate Shop in the Paddock Arcade in Watertown. My server today was Sonia, she was cheerful and dedicated. Her co-worker Rob was amazing as well, his institutional knowledge was helpful in writing this review. He expressed a true love of the product he was serving. The sample of the pulled pork he gave me was perfect. It didn’t have the sweet taste of a BBQ but rather had the almost vinegary taste of true Fair Food (similar to Binghamton NY or State Fair Spiede Sauce). Next time I want an entire sandwich!
