Remembering Rinpoche 15.11.2020

Khenpo Karthar Rinpoché shared a special relationship with Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoché. Khenpo Rinpoché was about 15 years older than Thrangu Rinpoché and was Thrangu Rinpoché’s study attendant when Thrangu Rinpoché was young. Stories of their friendship could fill books. Here is a lovely story from Linda Sue Yellin about these special lamas.

We are approaching the solemn occasion of the first anniversary of Khyabje Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche's parinirvana. for the next few weeks we will try to share photos and videos of Rinpoche that we might not have shared before so you can see the great bodhisattva in his many moods. Always encouraging, always compassionate, may our Khenpo Rinpoche benefit beings endlessly, now and always! Here is a photo from a visit to the Columbus Ohio KTC somewhere between 2008 and 2011. The Center rented a "black box" theater for the evening, and Rinpoche gave a stunning talk, as well as blessing a guinea pig handed to him from the audience!

The power of Khenpo Rinpoché’s words cannot be overestimated; even now, they are a bright shining light that cuts through the darkness of ignorance. Here’s an exchange with a dharma student where he speaks of the way we need to work with our emotions through Mahamudra ...

Toys always held an appeal for our Khenpo Rinpoche. He often kept them for a while, enjoyed them and passed them on to a new young friend. Keeping those blessings moving. What a great memory from JR!

Khenpo Rinpoche had great appreciation for counselors and therapists, saying they had great patience in listening to people's problems and difficulties. And when some of Khenpo Rinpoche's students asked if they could train to become hospital and hospice chaplains, he agreed and gave them blessings to help the dying and the sick. Another example of #KKRLove

Thinking about the cold beer story of KTD's days past while at Chopsticks on the Water in Gainsville during a session break, a waiter was looking for the per...son who'd ordered an Ichiban. As I enjoyed the beautiful lake and all her gators no one answered and the waiter was concerned checking inside and out. I smiled, took a pause for someone to answer then told him it was mine. With only a few people in the place folks were curious. Even more is I am allergic to all other beers. Was like a cool frosty hug. Thank you Rinpoche for including me. Never felt more loved and happy. (April 2019) See more

From Dakota: A beautiful mood prevails in this rare video featuring Rinpoche and HH Karmapa , combining prayer ceremony with serenade, as well as excerpts from Rinpoche’s 95th birthday. It’s good to see his genuine smile and also the enjoyment of HH Karmapa.
