We've had crews out all day since the start of this crazy NYC storm! Be careful if you are on the roads tonight! Stay indoors if you can.
There are a lot of wild things happening in the country right now. Between civil unrest, a global pandemic, and a heated election, the common denominator of our members is that we love what we do, providing EMS care across our Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods. #RVAC #ridgewoodvolunteerambulance #ridgewoodvac #94n #nycems #ems #ambulance #medic #maspeth #ridgewood #bushwick #nyc #newyorkcity #emergencymedicalservices #paramedic #emt #queens #volunteerems #ridgewoodqueens #volunteeremt #ridgewoodqueens #cpr #firstaid #emslife #volunteers #emsuniverse #emtlife #glendalequeens #mvvac #glendale
Good Morning All from the Ridgewood, Middle Village and Glendale VAC’, The Ridgewood VAC was incorporated October 10, 1974 and Glendale VAC was incorporated September 18, 1973. Both organizations started to operate within months of each other. Many people don’t know these facts:... BOTH the RVAC & GVAC have the same founders, Alvin & Marge Tucker, BOTH RVAC & GVAC serve within the NYPD 104 precinct BOTH RVAC & GVAC serve within Queens Community Board # 5. These facts are making a smooth transition of operations and we look forward to serving the Ridgewood, Glendale, Middle Village, Maspeth, & Bushwick communities. It is great how the Ridgewood VAC, Middle Village VAC and the Glendale VAC have pulled together to make more things happen! We are currently looking for members to join! In addition to operating our ambulances, we have other activities where we can use help, like upcoming street fairs. Please got to www.ridgewoodvac.com/volunteer to join today!

We keep the Ridgewood spirit alive.
The Ridgewood, Middle Village, and Glendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps were featured in an article by @qnsgram - a beautiful piece about the history of the volunteers! It’s been a while! We’re excited to be serving you tonight
We would like to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to David Neagle who hosted a fundraising event in which Gioia Sails agreed to manufacture thousands of face shields for first responders. Ridgewood community members suggested that RVAC should receive some of this equipment, and we were gifted nearly 1,000 face shields thanks to Gioia Sails. We appreciate the hard work, sweat, and tears put into the manufacturing of this equipment, and we are happy to use it for the safety of our members and the benefit of our communities. Be sure to check out Gioia Sails on Facebook and Instagram ! @donniegioia @gioiasails
We received a generous donation of KN95 and surgical masks from our friends at @helpmaskaherony! Between COVID-19, and now unruly demonstrators around the city, we could not be more grateful for those who support us. Thank you for your believing in us and our mission to provide emergency medical care to our communities! #RVAC #ridgewoodvolunteerambulance #ridgewoodvac #94n #nycems #ems #ambulance #medic #maspeth #ridgewood #bushwick #nyc #newyorkcity #emergencymedicalservices #paramedic #emt #queens #volunteerems #ridgewoodqueens #volunteeremt #ridgewoodqueens #cpr #firstaid #emslife #volunteers #emsuniverse #emtlife #glendalequeens #mvvac #glendale
We paid a quick visit to our chairman on his birthday, just a small token of appreciation for how great of a leader he has been! Happy Birthday Jesus !!!
Secure that wrist! For lower arm injuries, where splinting is necessary, remember to secure that wrist so your patient can’t move it! Also featured, a trian...gular bandage to maintain the hand in a position of function. It may not look the neatest, but ask yourself this - is it effective? See more
We are in search of one of these walkers for a community member! If you have one and are looking for it to be sent to a good cause, let us know!
The must-have for the start of every tour, a good coffee. Get your coffee from wherever you want, but it’s yours and you love it. We take it as light and sweet as possible, like milk and sugar with a pinch of coffee. How do you take your ??
This is an old photo, don’t worry! This was taken at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where us and @fhvac participated in a emergency department surge drill. Love for EMS and the desire to help others brings us all together. On a side note, it’s amazing where the people in this photo have ended up! FDNY, FDNY EMS, NYU EMS, and more!
As EMTs and Paramedics, we’re trained to triage multiple patients quickly in a mass casualty incident (MCI). You may think of active shooters, bombings, or other terrorism events, but we often triage patients on a smaller scale. For example, a two-car MVA with several people in each car - you and your partner may split up and do a quick assessment in each vehicle, seeing who needs care first. Even something as simple as asking, is anybody hurt? could accomplish the task. What MCI Triage system do you use in your departments ? Let us know!
Steven and Travis, two RVAC members, ensure that future New York State EMTs get the highest quality training so they can treat your loved one with confidence. Steven serves on the RVAC Training Committee while Travis serves on the QA/QI Committee. Both work for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) in the Bronx as a firefighter, and a paramedic (respectively), in addition to teaching EMT students across the five boroughs of NYC. This goes to show that our members have a hand in many other activities!
