The Artist Talk with Diane Churchill and Barbara Smith Gioia has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd. The artists will talk about their exhibits on view now through June 11th and their inspiration. The exhibits, "Fragments of Alliance" and "Gold: Pages from a Lost Book" make for a beautiful show that speaks of light, color, joy, humanity and possibility. RoCA is looking for submissions for its Student/Member show! We're currently looking for painting, drawings, mixed media, glass and ceramics. This year's show will be both VIRTUAL & LIVE.... Images of featured work for the virtual exhibit and the live exhibit featured in RoCA's Galleries One and Two should be sent to Barbara Galazzo (see email, below). All images of the work for the virtual show ONLY must be specified for that show and are due no later than Feb. 1st; any work to appear in Galleries One or Two must be delivered February 3rd: gallery space is first-come, first-serve, and may not exceed dimensions of 24" inches in any direction. YogArt for Teens Tenley Marshall Escoffrey $125 (plus $35 materials fee) Discover creativity, flow, focus, and intuition through the practice of yoga, the journalling of the imagination, and the creation of art. Each virtual class on Zoom, will focus on the stimulation of physical strength, emotional balance, and self-confidence. Drawing on individual experience, this teen class will explore the physical and philosophical practice of tradition...al yoga. Teens will develop body and mind strength and flexibility through yoga poses and sequences, breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, and relaxation. Journaling, discussions, and art activities will create a positive environment that supports self-esteem, body appreciation, and tools for stress management. All levels of artists and yogi's welcome! Projects Include Buddha Books, Zines, Journaling Visual Body Scans, "Chakra Catchers"l, Sound Healing Cards, Accordion, Half-Fold, and Flip book forms of journaling. Visual Storytelling with Nyack Sketch Log author and Illustrator Bill Batson Fee: $170/seniors $160 In this exciting new Zoom class, students will learn about Bill Batson's practice of using sketches and short essays to explore autobiographical writing and local history. Participants will share stories, select visual material, complete writing prompts and construct sketch log style illustrated essays that will be published on nyacknewsandviews.
