Fans of Emily Calandrelli's Netflix science show "Emily's Wonder Lab" are petitioning the streaming service to make more episodes -- and it's collected over 33,...000 signatures in less than four days! With the show not receiving any Emmy nominations this year, Emily posted on her Facebook page that Netflix currently doesn't plan to make any more seasons. However, a fan created a Change org petition urging Netflix to renew the show, and the comments are full of parents sharing how "Emily's Wonder Lab" has had such a positive impact on so many Mighty Girls. "I knew this type of representation would be new, but I underestimated the impact it would have," Emily wrote in a Facebook post. "Your stories about what this show meant to you and your kids (especially your daughters!) -- these are stories that I’ll hold in my heart for a really long time." The first season of "Emily's Wonder Lab" was a smash hit with families; as Emily says, "Who would have thought that this generation would be able to watch a female engineer (who happened to be 9 months pregnant) doing science on TV -- in 190 countries in 38 different languages on the largest streaming platform in the world?" The petition was started by fan Samantha Furrer, who wrote, "I am disappointed that a lack of Emmy nominations could prevent the development of more episodes of "Emily’s Wonder Lab". Please spread the word if you are a fan of [the show] or the inimitable Emily Calandrelli!" Emily says that 100,000 signatures on the petition might be enough to get the studio's attention, but either way, she's touched by her fans' dedication to her show: "I’m so in awe of you all," she says. "Thank you to everyone who is signing and sharing this. It just shows how much a show like this resonates with your families." Children need to rest. But, there is something so important not only about children getting this downtime, but also about HOW we as adults believe that it shoul...d look and be scheduled. We need to make room for more spontaneous, child-led and designed moments of release. I can't tell you how many times both in our yard and nature-program that I've seen children spontaneously lie down to rest... on logs, leaning against each other, just spread out unapologetically on the ground in the middle of the day. And it's not just young children. The older ones will lean up against a tree, stare off into the fire, retreat to a small, special hideaway they've built for just such a purpose. To breathe. To recharge. To just BE. When we start strictly regimenting, over-scheduling and curating these breaks, it subverts a child's natural rhythm and instincts. Do that enough and eventually, we start to blunt our body's cues and unique needs. Let's support a culture of normalizing spontaneous, diverse expression of the body at rest & integration. I would love to see any instances you have of your children taking these breaks - participating in these small acts of individuality and quiet resistance. Next time you see a child lie down, rest or seem to "zone out" outside, just know they are getting the nourishment their developing nervous systems need. Mother Nature has them in her grounded, regulated embrace, whispering to their hearts' "Rest child, I'll hold you for as long as you need." I hope you are getting the rest you need in this season of the big fire, little light. ~ Nicolette

An obstetrician from the 1800’s decided your due date. . And VERY often babies are forced out of the womb before they’re ready based on his calculations. . The ...obsession with a gestation of 40 weeks leads to an increase in inductions, interventions, and surgical birth - all of which have physical and emotional/mental consequences for mother and baby. . But where did this guess date even come from? . The due date calculation we use today comes from an obstetrician named Franz Karl Naegele, who invented Naegele’s Rule. This calculation starts with the first day of your last menstrual period, goes back three months, then adds one year and 7 days. The result is a gestation of 280 days (40 weeks). . The 40 week date is an average, meaning that about 1/2 of people will give birth before that date, & 1/2 after. It probably wasn’t seen as a hard eviction date in the 1800’s. . But today we live in a fast-paced world that runs on schedules and money. And with the ability to control birth via induction and surgery, this 40 week average date often turns into the day when your baby will be forced from your body. . Here are my top 3 reasons why using this calculation as a hard eviction date is wrong... . 1. Naegele’s Rule is based on a 28 day menstrual cycle. If you, like me, don’t ovulate at exactly day 14 of your cycle, this calculation won’t work for you. Most people don’t know when they ovulate, and this important fact is almost never taken into account when calculating a due date. . 2. Our bodies are all different - we didn’t all get our periods at exactly age 11 years 6 months and 13 days, so why would our bodies all grow babies at exactly the same rate? To use a due date as an estimate of when a baby will arrive is one thing - to use it as an eviction notice is a completely different story. . 3. Many factors determine whether you are likely to have a longer or shorter gestation - if you are between the ages of 19 and 34, having your first baby, or are white, you are statistically more likely to have a longer pregnancy. . . . #duedate #duemonth #guessdate #csection #induction #birthtrauma #obstetricviolence #givingbirth #40weekspregnant #39weekspregnant #41weeks . - Reposted from @birthuprising See more

I want you to know that it's ok to be grieving your old life while also finding joy and meaning in your current one. You can both miss your old life and love y...our new one as a mother. One does not cancel out the other. Repost from @thecounselingcollectivefw According to @_happyasamother, loss is the process of losing something or someone. While we often associate grief with the death of a loved one, we can absolutely experience loss and grief in different forms. When I speak with moms who are struggling to adjust to motherhood, many report grieving their old life; who they were and how freely they lived. I want you to know that it's ok to be grieving your old life while also finding joy and meaning in your current one. You can both miss your old life and love your new one as a mother. One does not cancel out the other. Know that your grief is valid and that you can shift, rediscover, and redefine yourself in motherhood. #realmotherhood #postpartumdepression #postpartumanxiety #womenhelpingwomen #thecounselingcollectivefw #fortworthcounselors #maternalmentalhealth #momlife #ittakesavillage #speakthesecret #thisispostpartum #hellomytribe #4thtrimester #postpartummentalhealth #connectingmoms #honestmotherhood #pregnancytrauma #birthtrauma #babyloss #infantloss #uniteinmotherhood #motherhoodrising #thehappynow #ohheymama #takeheartmydear #specialneedsmoms #specialneedsparenting #maternalmentalhealth #mywishformoms See more

Please check out this new course by Birth Monopoly @and @cristenpascucci #Repost @...birthmonopoly with @get_repost THIS THURSDAY! Link in bio/below. Can't wait for this! There's so much complexity to navigate here; different doulas have different comfort levels and skills and every client has different needs and circumstances. They bring so much experience and thought leadership to this discussion! If you are looking for tools to help you exist as a doula in a system that so often creates unnecessary trauma in birth professionals and families, this is for you I truly believe we can mitigate trauma for DOULAS as well as birthing people when we communicate openly and honestly about the different roles in the birth room, and healthy expectations for everyone.
