Update #2- Gray-haired photographer friends- I've discovered a few things. A plastic recycling facility will probably accept old slides and transparencies. B+W... film is accepted by Rochester Silver Works. In quantities smaller than truckloads, they don't pay you for the silver recovered. But they will accept small quantities, like boxes full. They incinerate them, including sleeves and they recover the silver from the ash. They provide a certificate of destruction, but no cash for the silver. And they don't pay for the shipping. BUT, this is a good alternative to a landfill as far as I'm concerned. Send an email to Greg Munier, [email protected] to answer questions. Thanks to Wayne Calabrese for this lead.
