Rochester Tango

As you may already expect, there is no Tango Domingo tonight. Please stay safe, maybe even listen to some tango music at home . I miss you all, and I can't wait to see you all again ... Abrazos, Steven.

Yesterday morning, the devoted milonguero Nicolas Eyle passed away after his battle with cancer. Nick was a true lover of tango, who showed his love through the support of many of our local tango communities, as well as organizing tango in Syracuse for many years. Those of us who knew him, know he was a kind and gentle man, and he'll be greatly missed. Rest well, Nick, and thank you for your passion, kindness, and support.

Thank you everyone who took our survey! From our responses, it is clear that for our community to feel safe and comfortable, it would be the wisest choice to cancel Tango Domingo this Sunday, and likely for the rest of the month. This is not an easy choice to make, but the safety and health of our dancers is our highest priority, and the results from the survey reflected those concerns. A few new ideas have come from our responses, though;... Since we still have the studio paid for this month, I will be offering discounted private lessons during our regular lesson and milonga time. If you are interested in a private lesson, please message us, or email us at [email protected]. Private lessons will be $40 an hour. There were also a few requests to offer video lessons of exercises and figures to keep us practicing while away from the dance floor. This is an idea that I'd be interested in exploring, so I'll keep you all in the loop. For now, please be vigilant and safe, and I'm looking forward to dancing with you all again. Abrazos, Steven.

Dear Rochester tangueros and tangueras, as well as our neighbors, friends, and supporters; The concern of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is making a large impact on tango communities, big and small, across the nation. This is something I'm watching very closely. As it stands now, I plan on keeping business as usual for Rochester Tango. I do not plan on cancelling our Thursday lessons, Tango Domingo, or our weekend with guest instructors at the end of the month. These things can chang...e though, based on the severity of the virus. The health and safety of our community is extremely important, and many of our dancers are elderly, and are at a higher risk. That being said, I do ask that we each do our part to help prevent the spread of any illness. As the medical experts suggest, take extra precautions, wash your hands often, and please stay home if you aren't feeling well. If you attend, we encourage you use hand sanitizer between tandas, and thoroughly wash your hands when you can. As more news and news and information about Coronavirus comes out, I'll be giving updates if necessary. As for now, please stay safe, clean, and calm. - Steven
