Happy 4th of July! Many take time on this holiday to reflect on the massive blessing it is to enjoy the freedom we have in the United States. After the way that some many of our celebrations were impacted last year, this appreciation might go even deeper in 2021. Last week we reflected on the way that sometimes following God's will leads to some of our most difficult steps of our journey. Today as we worship we ask how Jesus invites us to experience the hard things of life. Psalm 86:1-13 is our guide as we consider The God Who Lets Us Grieve. Let us worship in spirit and in the truth, let us worship in the power of the Holy Spirit.

It's understandable that we would want it always to be true that the paths of the righteous person are aways straight and easy. Yet, we know that the person who honors Jesus as Christ in their life will experience difficulty for doing the right thing. In a message that is an important reminder for all of us and an encouragement to our graduating seniors, Pastor Matthew will lead us through 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 to see that the right path may be the hardest. Immanuel - God With Us. The immortal, invisible, eternal God was to be born into the world as a tiny baby and He would save His people, Israel from their sins - and through Him, all the families of the earth would be blessed. A child was to be born of a virgin, for God was to give His only begotten Son; and the government would be upon His shoulders, and His name would be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

We worship the One God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) this morning at 10:00 am. If you are unable to join us in person, you can find us with this link online. God has come. This is the amazing message we have been given. What a blessing it was to use the amazing people of S1UMC and the resources of time, talents, and treasures, to share that with hundreds last night at the Streets of Bethlehem event. We reflect even more deeply on Jesus' name Emmanuel this morning. It means "God with us", how is God with us, especially in a pandemic?
