Steering clutch & brake repairs
IH 500E in for steering brake repairs.
Case 450 in for blade and C frame repairs.
The 301 John Deere is finally coming back together. Note the lack of silicone around the top cover.
A pair of brush chippers in for repairs. Red one needs broken bolts removed from knife drum. Yellow one in need of either engine replacement or extensive repairs. Has cracked cylinder wall.
Unknown loader. Looks like a Hough but key tag says Owatonna. In for leaky injection pump repair.
IH 500E arrived for steering repair. Right side brake not working.
Snow pusher repairs and modifications to come. Convert to quick attach, lengthen side plates and add new shoes. More pictures to come.
Rut ro Raggy. The more I look.........the more I find. Apparently the previous "mechanic" didn't know about the 2 bolts hidden under the top cover. A reasonable mistake if you're not familiar with the machine. However the amount of brute force it took to pry the tractor halves apart without removing these 2 bolts........Unacceptable! Obviously enough to break the top of the housing out. Also note the pick up tube caved in from driving a chisel or pry-bar between tractor halves. #incompetence
Overwhelmed with the incompetence of the previous mechanic. (1) Transmission drain plug only finger tight. (2) Bolts holding tractor halves together all just snugged up, never torqued and one missing. (3) Silicone!! Holy freaking silicone! (4) Bent the clutch disc trying to force the halves back together. Also found transmission pump gear with missing teeth. Technically they're not "missing". They're just not where they're supposed to be. The mating gear had been replaced by previous mechanic. Sorting out the mess.
JD 401 recently arrived for repairs. Customer complaint: Hydraulics don't work and clutch not releasing. This after customer hired a local to repair the hyd's. Replaced pump and split tractor behind gearbox (for some reason). Note the "silicone seal up job" on the top cover and between tractor halves. All because previous mechanic didn't want to have to buy the "$100 gasket" which is really only $26. Quality workmanship!! We'll get this sorted out. #poorworkmanship
John Deere 850K track frame repair complete. #lineboring #alignboring #trackframerepair #johndeere850K
Building up a John Deere 7850K track frame pivot shaft bore.
Making a clean up pass before welding. When building up a bore that has minimal wear it is often a good idea to make a clean up pass with the boring bar prior to welding. When welding, the areas where the weld contacts the parent material tends to become hard. One method of avoiding these hard spots is to preheat the area prior to welding. In this case the shear mass of material wouuld require extensive preheating. Another method of preventing these hard spots is a clean up pass with the boring bar prior to welding. Boring oversize prior to welding ensures that the cutting tool will be away from the area where the weld meets the parent material thus avoiding any hard spots. #JohnDeere850Ktrackframerepair #lineboring
