Great News! Help us celebrate the return of Sally Marsh's Hootenanny at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum on Tuesdays and Thursday nights in July. Want to make it a family night? We have expanded our hours on those two days to noon-6pm. (Our Saturday hours remain the same: noon-4pm). Combine your visit to the museum with a great dinner or snack at one of Salamanca's great eateries, then head on down to the "Hoot", which begins at 7pm. Visit us between 3-6pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays and enter our drawing for a restaurant gift card! Hope to see you in July!
Doesn't look like much, but the last "interior wall" came down today.
More progress on Erie 87357 today. Time to seriously start looking for a new door.
Work on Erie 87357 removing the walls and insulation continued today.
Had a successful day at the museum. We were able to pull the B&LE wood caboose outside the fence and get the temporary roof on. Hopefully in spring we will be able to start the restoration I on. A huge thanks goes out to those who helped today. We couldn't have done it without you.
Reminder, tomorrow we will have a work session. We will be building a temporary roof on the wood caboose and if we have enough people, clean some of the other cars and maybe even start removing the interior walls and garbage from the Erie boxcar that was added over the years. We plan to start at 10 AM, but come anytime. We plan to be there all day.
A reminder about our November events, and to announce another special. As we said before our friends over at Wanderer Hut will be here on Saturdays in November while we are open, but they will be offering 20% off for anyone with an admission ticket from the museum. Come enjoy the museum, the model trains and some good food!
Help wanted! Do you have an interest in history? Railroads? Then we need your help. The Salamanca Rail Museum has a dynamic plan for growth and you can be a part of its success. We need help in our gift shop, tours, collections documentation, research, and car restoration. If you are looking for something challenging, please consider volunteering. No experience necessary. The Rail Museum will be offering classes for those interested on 3 Mondays: Oct 12, 19, and 27, beginning at 7 pm. To reserve your slot, please call us at (716) 945-3133. We look forward to hearing from you!
